A God of Love and Understanding, March 13, 2009
Fr. Joseph Girzone's The Wisdom of His Compassion is a beautiful book with inspirational and heartwarming messages of faith, hope, caring, kindness, and compassion.
In these difficult times, Fr. Girzone's message that God cares about us and He understands us even when we do give into temptation gives the reader hope.
Fr Girzone's God is a God who understands us. Even when we do give into temptation, He is a God who loves us. This is a message we cannot hear too often.
His reminder that "intimacy with Jesus, who will always be our friend when others walk away, is a special blessing, not to be taken lightly" takes the meaning of friendship to a new level.
Fr. Girzone presents a human and tender God, a God who wants us to enjoy our humanity - what we are, what He gave us. He did not make us perfect. He did not intend to. He knows that and accepts that in us.
In beautiful ways, with words of encouragement, Fr. Girzone let's his readers know what God expects:
What is important to God? According to Fr. Girzone, he wants us to be sensitive to the pain and hurt in other people's lives, He wants us to reach out to help.
He gathered people together to teach them how to care for one another and be there when someone needed them.
At a time of great contention and fear, Fr. Girzone writes about a loving, understanding God:
He came to free people from the legal straightjackets the religious leaders had fashioned for them.
He always reaches out to heal us...it is the pain that sin causes that prompts Him to want to heal us.
God does not have a need to punish or destroy sinners. As the Good Shepherd, he searches out those driven away by the Pharisees of every age and tries to bring them back home.
One of the most powerful messages in The Wisdom of His Compassion, and one that all of us should remember every day of our lives is recorded in 25 words:
Jesus warns all of us that we will be judged at the Last Judgment with the same justice and mercy we dish out to others.
If you are looking for peace in these difficult days, I would recommend 15 minutes a day with Fr. Joseph Girzone's The Wisdom of His Compassion or any one of the 19 other books he has written.

Wonderful information, horrible reading of book! Monotone!, October 20, 2010
As always, Father Girzone is right on. The information was wonderful. I have every book that he has written. He is my hero. However, I was extremely dissapointed in the deliverance of the book by the person doing the CD. He was monotone and I expected him to yawn at any second. I buy a lot of my books that are for research on CD so I can listen to them in my car. I usually go right through them. I have such difficulty listening to this person that I have only listened to 2 of the CD's and have no desire to listen to the rest of the program. I will now have to buy the book to get what I need. I am a ministerial student and have to be very careful with my money.
