Kids LOVE it,
By
This review is from: Wisdom and the Millers: Proverbs for Children (Paperback)
This book is a compilation of short stories or chapters that each involve one or more of the Miller family children. Each story presents a life lesson learned by one or more of the kids, usually as the result of an "ordinary" childlike infraction (feuding, disobedience, neglecting duties, etc.). Then, we see one or both of the parents gently but appropriately correcting the matter, typically with the telling of one of their own life lessons, and a reference from Proverbs. These little stories provide excellent moral lessons. I read this book aloud to my young children, and overall I found it to be interesting, plainly but adequately written, and useful as a "teaching" aid, but my 5-stars really come from the level of enthusiasm that my kids showed for this book. My copy was illustrated (some of the illustrations repeated throughout the book), and my kids liked the pictures. To them, this was as good as a C.S. Lewis book or another "classic." Their vote is good enough for me, and to think that they may model the lessons from the book makes this only better.

A lot of godly wisdom in a little package,
By
This review is from: Wisdom and the Millers: Proverbs for Children (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book! My whole family loves this book, as well as the others in the series. My children ask for it every night, and the first time my husband read it to them, he was so impressed that he asked if I could get more books in the series.
We love the godly wisdom and the practical, real-life stories that illustrate the principles in each chapter. I admit, I even get a little choked up at some of the stories. If only my husband and I had these books when we were children -- we could have saved ourselves a lot of struggles and pain with the godly wisdom taught in these books!

Great evening read with your children,
This review is from: Wisdom and the Millers: Proverbs for Children (Paperback)
This was a great book to review with my Children (8 & 6). It was a fun read with great examples of applying scripture to everyday life. My children enjoyed it and were excited to sit down and interact.
Our daughter started finding and highlighting the main scripture associated with the story in her bible. Being a dad I am always looking for always to teach the bible and it's principles to my children with out going way over their heads. The is a great place to start. Enjoy

Excellent For Family Devotions,
By Eliza Huie "Eliza Huie" (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wisdom and the Millers: Proverbs for Children (Paperback)
We have three children and have read this book over and over through the years. There are several other books in the "Miller" series and this one is one of our favorites. The stories bring the teachings of the Bible into the lives of young children in a way they can easily realate. The Miller family is a very conservative family but we found that even though we did not hold to the same customs they do our children were able to relate and connect very well to the lessons in each story.

This book was recommended to me by another homeschooling mom. I bought it on her recommendation but was ambivalent about it initially. It seemed "old-fashioned", and I wondered if our family could find anything that we could apply to today. After sitting together only a few times to do our devotional time, it became clear that my worries were unfounded. Although the family in the book is old-fashioned, the Millers taught my children an incredible amount about what it means to be wise and virtuous. Each story provided a wonderful jumping off point for discussions, and the children looked forward to our time together each morning. They easily drew from their reading during the day and often would refer to the book when making decisions about their own behavior and interactions with each other. I would recommend Wisdom and the Millers to any family that desires to build their children's character.

Lessons from Proverbs taught through stories,
This review is from: Wisdom and the Millers: Proverbs for Children (Paperback)
Great book. Stories held my kids' interest (9, 6, & 3yrs). Pictures here and there help. Each "lesson" can stand on its own, or be an easy launch pad for a more in-depth lesson, applying it to relevant situations, etc.

Wonderful Proverbs for Children,
By Christian Reader (Lawrenceburg, TN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wisdom and the Millers: Proverbs for Children (Paperback)
I truly enjoy all of the Miller series by Mildred A. Martin. This book, Wisdom and the Millers, focuses on Proverbs and relates a particular proverb for each chapter or story of the book. We regularly see God's love and His purpose in these stories, and although there may be the tendency to want to "Do" instead of t "Be" when one reads proverbs, this book does a fine job of recognizing that our doing is typically a state of our being, and that our hearts need to be right before our works can be of any value.
I recommend this book and the rest of the Miller stories to anyone wishing to read or to encourage their children to read good Christian based values without the garbage so prevalent in today's TV, movies and pulp novels. Throw away the Twilight stuff that fills your child's mind with lies and garbage and read some Miller family stories instead.

This book teaches both adults and children how applicable the Proverbs from the Bible are to our every day lives. The stories are short, but definitely keeps ones' attention and teaches a Truth. This book was recommended to me and after reading it, I highly recommend it to others.
