Not Just For 12-Steppers!,
By
This review is from: The Wisdom of the Rooms (Paperback)
I loved this book so much, I simply had to say something about it. Though I am not currently in a 12-step or recovery program, I related more than anything to wanting to be on a path of LIFE recovery where I can stop falling into the same destructive patterns again and again. One of the things the author mentions in the book that struck me over the head is that we need to live life on life's terms, and that's exactly what this book gives the reader. It is a spiritual journey into understanding that is not bogged down by a lot of esoteric philosophies, and that is so refreshing. It is to the point, and timeless. As an aside, it also really helped me to better understand the thought processes of many loved ones who have struggled with addiction. I no longer feel like I have to helplessly stand by. This is one to keep on the nightstand and open up whenever you need a shot in the arm of wisdom for living and inspiration.

finally someone puts together the quotes that people in recovery use as tools for living a rich life. Its like family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation that finally get put down on paper. Bravo to the author, and lucky for all of us, in AND out of recovery who get to benefit from the hard won honesty people in the rooms come to terms with. Beneficial to all who take the time to read it. KB

Weekly Dose of Wisdom,
By Sherry R. "Sherry R." (IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wisdom of the Rooms (Paperback)
Thank you Michael for putting this book together and making these quotes available to us all. Believe it or not, everyone does not have a computer readily available. I've been reading his weekly e-mail quotes since he started and they are awesome. Written by people in recovery just like myself. I look forward to reading them every Monday morning. Now I can have them at my finger tips where ever I am. I can ponder over simple yet thought provoking questions on the opposite page of each weekly quote. This only proves there IS a great deal of wisdom in the rooms.
I highly recommend this book. I bought several and gave them out as gifts as well.

I have so enjoyed my daily reading from this book! Unlike so many daily meditations - this collection distills the collective wisdom of US - the 12 steppers! A must-have for anyone who wants to enrich their program of spiritual development.

An amazing book. For anyone who is in recovery or seeking recovery this book will aid your journey in so many ways. It covers almost any fear or feeling you may carry. We are not alone. You will discover this in your reading of these pages. It is even rewarding for those who want to understand a lost loved one. Read, embrace, hope, live, believe, pray and remember above all "one day at a time" All we have to do is one day at a time. Thanks Michael Z.

Thank you Michael!,

Michael takes basic slogans, thoughts and ideas of twelve step recovery up a notch. With a "keep it simple" format, he urges the reader to look deeper. The Wisdom of the Rooms is an outstanding companion book for those seeking a higher level of spirituality, direction and growth.
My clients and I thank you!

What a Gift!,
By
This review is from: The Wisdom of the Rooms (Paperback)
By chance, I came upon this website about a year ago. I subscribed to the weekly e-mail and I was SO impressed with the "way" Michael Z. says things that I wrote him to express my heartfelt thanks! Then when the book came out...well, that's the icing on the cake! I bought one for myself and one for the treatment center where I work! Thank you again! PS Since I work with people frequently who are angry, I recently quoted him, "Remember, anger is just one letter away from DANGER" !!! You gotta love him! Ingrid S.

Best 15 bucks I've ever spent...,

This review is from: The Wisdom of the Rooms (Paperback)
For an "on the go" person in recovery like me, this is like the blackberry of 12 step meetings. Any page I open in this book, seems to give me exaclty what I need to read at that time, to give me a spiritual perspective on any situation. The way the author explains the quotes with ease, and then allows the readers to internally answer some questions regarding the quote, can bring tranquility to a turbulent head.
I wish more books on recovery were written this way. Thank you Michael Z!! |
