This book is a collection of photographs of Nisargadatta and his surroundings, along with quotations of his from a previously unpublished dialogue. It is the same format as The Essential Teachings of Ramana Maharshi, also published by Inner Directions. The "bite-size" presentation of Nisargadatta's teachings works very well. His dialogues published in other books are powerful, but it is good also to have this condensed form. It can give the mind more of a jolt to have just a brief sentence or phrase to chew on. The pictures are not quite as moving for me as the ones of Ramana in the book previously mentioned, but they definitely do add to the experience of encountering this man and his teachings. I recommend it highly.

This is a beautiful book to open at random. Each and every page is a true delight. The stunning photographs and carefully chosen aphorisms are an inspiration for anyone interested in exploring the true nature of reality. A couple of random examples: "Whatever you take yourself to be will come to an end" and "Continuously hold on to what you are and not to what you know". The book is full of such mind-liberating sayings. The fact that they are brief extracts, rather than whole paragraphs, makes them particularly powerful - as the mind has little to grasp onto. The sayings are so direct and clear that they are beyond the need to be explained by intellectual means.

A beautifully put together book! I pick it up almost everyday to read and savor it. Combined with pictures and quick bits of his teachings, you can sense his message on an almost more physical level than just up in your head.

This wonderful book is covered with the great wisdom of Nisargadatta Maharaj and many rare photos of the great sage. His timeless message is captured in this great book with short, direct quotes the compiler recorded in studying with Nisargadatta. One outstanding quality of this book is that it offers the great teachings of Self-Realization in short aphorisms that capture the essence of non-duality teachings with a true economy of words.

The main focus of the teachings is intuitively knowing your "I AM-ness" or Consciousness, going deeply into it so that you wake up to your true nature as the Unborn.
I recommend adding it to your library of spiritual gems. His teachings are always very direct and powerful, right to the Heart of the Absolute Reality!

How to critique a book beyond words? Absolutely wonderful, that's a divine pun, if you get it. If you do get it, you must surely check these wondeful pictures of a living saint (still alive in this book) and wisdom sayings that are beyond duality. Just wonderful reading every day. I check a page at random once or twice each day to remind myself of, well, nothing! Namaste!!!

It is a diamond of soulful delights. It sparkles all throughout. Simple. Wonderful. Page, after page contains more than infinite words or timeless photos. It is truly a cornerstone. It is a mirror, that will shine through you and more. Beyond. Enjoy!

Very short and easy to read. Quotes and pictures from a great spititual teacher. I was led to find sny of his writings when I heard Adyashanti say that he was his favorite teacher.

There's no question that Nisagardatta has a strong message and his other tome "I am That" really explores his message. But it takes dedication to work through it. This light, nicely illustrated, "A visual journey" is delightful to reflect. A page before sleep type book. A 30 second read and a day to digest.

Sure, some will want to go to "I am That", some may need to read it first, but this book is well thumbed and one that will stay by my bedhead for years - about the time it will take me to get to the end of "I Am That".
