About the Author

Rob Wilson has been a student of human motivation since high school - initially to develop believable characters for his fiction. As a college student, he studied psychology and worked in mental health. His first job as a motivator was in suicide prevention. He worked for a short-term mental hospital where he learned how to help people, who were suffering from depression, quickly get up and functioning back in society. Wilson then took his understanding of human motivation and put it to use in advertising. He motivated people to move to the next step in the buying process for hundreds of products and services. His advertising success led to a teaching opportunity at Georgia State University. For five years, he taught advertising, marketing, and public relations through their Small Business Development Center. Rob later converted his classes into workshops and seminars and took them on the road. Overtime, seeing his audiences' enjoyment of the creative thinking portions of his seminars, Rob developed a motivational program on innovation and creative thinking. A powerful storyteller, Rob's stories create vivid images in the minds of his listeners and readers. Whether it is for his speeches, articles, fiction or advertising, they convey memorable messages that inspire people to deal with their most difficult challenges and achieve their greatest dreams. Rob is the author of the internationally syndicated column on human motivation: The Un-Comfort Zone. Each month Rob explores the many aspects of motivation, innovation, and leadership, and how to apply them in a competitive business environment. Rob is also the author two other books. The wildly funny book: OFF THE WALL! The Best Graffiti Off The Walls Of America, an illustrated collection of bathroom graffiti. And, the humorous children's novel, The Annoying Ghost Kid, which was recently optioned by a motion picture company.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great source for inspiration and direction May 23, 2014
Format:Paperback
I have had the pleasure of reading many of Rob Wilson's motivational articles over the years in the Connecticut Songsmith newsletter. His online videos show him to be a gifted speaker with a wide range of life experience. I am glad to see his work finally compiled into one book that brings together his gift for storytelling and his valuable life experiences. This is a great book for anyone wanting encouragement, direction, insight, or a little nudge along the path to their aspirations. The short-essay format makes for easy reading and easy digestion of meaningful material.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful and entertaining... May 13, 2014
Format:Paperback
After enjoying Robert Wilson's syndicated column for several years I was intrigued and curious about what he might write in a full-length book and I wasn't disappointed. As with a fine, distilled cognac, Robert has a way of simplifying life's challenges and boiling them down to their most concentrated essences so that the reader can quickly absorb lessons that took him years to learn. It's no surprise that he's also a motivational speaker. The world needs more of these visionaries who can deliver the goods and do so in such an entertaining way that they are easy to remember. I can heartily endorse and recommend this book to business executives and housewives alike, and I look forward to whatever else he may have warming-up on deck in that fertile mind of his.

Rob Wilson has the unique and enviable talent to experience every breath of his life, inhale the universality, metabolize its meaning and ethical import, shake off his embarrassment and exhale in the most sensitive and understanding manner the wisdom he has distilled.

It is really beyond a talent. It’s a unique vision into the universe and an ethical tool that he wields as a sacred trust.

Rob Wilson has been an online columnist for The Bulletin (www.thebulletin.ca) since 2008 and is always among the most-read features on our website. As a widely circulated free community newspaper for 140,000 residents of downtown Toronto, The Bulletin isn’t able to spare print space for anything that isn’t purely local to our readers.

But Robert Evans Wilson, Jr. is widely read online and the result is a vast audience of Torontonians who relish the everyday wisdom of this gifted life-coach and author.
