3.0 out of 5 stars I love PWEI, January 8, 2004
This review is from: Wise Up Suckers:Best of (Audio CD)
This album is kinda cool...But, you know, with PWEI, all their albums have their own sort of sound...All of their albums are great, except maybe now for a feast, which is hilarious, but...it just doesn't work well when you put them together. I'm not giving this three stars for any shortcomings in the music. Just this compilation basically sucks. As does anything which tries to mesh PWEI into one cohesive sound. They were a different thing at different times.
One time I was in a club and PWEIzation came on, and everyone stopped dancing. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen. That's probably the least of the songs on this album in any case, and was probably just stuck on here to give people incentive to buy it. I bought it cause I found it really cheap somewhere. PWEIzation is on very metal noise pollution anyhow, and you could probably find that cheap on vynil somewhere if you want to hear that song plus other good songs.
Anyway, the best thing about this is if you want to put songs from 'this is the day...' on a compilation, because all the songs end, don't just blend into one another. Plus I think the version of Preaching to the perverted on this is the one from 'very metal...' and not the 'this is the day...' one...I could be wrong...
But if you're interested in Pop Will Eat Itself, get 'this is the day...this is the hour...this is this!' or 'Dos dedos mis amigos' first if you like funky wonderful stuff, second if you like heavier. or just both and all inbtween.
