Book Description

January 8, 2010
A brilliant movie career, two adoring husbands — none of it is enough to erase the memory of Ariel Hart’s one true love. Back when she was plain, shy Aggie Bixby, a dark-eyed young man named Felix touched her heart…then vanished from her life. Now, she’s about to do something shocking and outrageous — sell her house and leave Hollywood behind. Making her new home in the quiet town of Chula Vista, she meets Lex Sanders, a wealthy rancher and breeder of Arabian horses. Ariel sees something familiar in his smoldering eyes — something that triggers long-buried memories of a love so pure and so perfect, it couldn’t possibly last… Or could it?

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

When Ariel Hart, a middle-aged movie star, suddenly realizes she won't be offered any more roles, she sets out on a series of zany maneuvers to begin a new career, finally buying a San Diego trucking company ("Able Body Trucking"). Between lessons in truck driving and martial arts, she searches for her lost love of 34 years before. In the meantime, Ariel also strikes up a romance with an avocado rancher with a past. When his enemies sabotage the trucking company, a host of Hollywood stars come to the rescue and long-lost lovers reunite to live happily ever after. A wild and crazy heroine and slapstick humor aren't what one expects from a Michaels (Dear Emily) novel, but they make for a memorable reading experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars You are going to laugh, March 10, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Wish List (Hardcover)
_Wish List is one of those books that once you meet the
characters you want to hang out with them, go out to dinner, ect., ect. You will laugh at Ariel and Dolly's
adventure and cry with their tragedies. You will be envious
of their lifestyle and with their hootzpah! This book is the kind of book that makes you want to know what happened
after the last page, why don't we write to the author and
ask her. Have fun with this one it's a keeper!

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun book, August 10, 2000

This book was very upliftig and light. It did not follow many of Fern Michaels Books which tend to be about disfunctional families. I found this to be very entertaining and refreshing and I truely enjoyed it. The perfect book for sitting around the lake!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, July 7, 2005
This review is from: Wish List (Mass Market Paperback)
I read the back cover of this book before reading it and it sounded very good. I really enjoyed this Fern Michaels book until near the end when Ariel and Lex realize that they are long lost lovers. This is the second time I've been disappointed by a Fern Michaels book. I am beginning to believe she just is unable to deal with any kind of "surprise" in a book without completely blowing it. There is no lead up or thought on either of the characters parts before they realize who the other is, it just happens. I even flipped back to the beginning of the chapter to see if I missed something, but I didn't. All this book was is another terrible disappointment. It had the opportunity to be great but ended up not living up to it's potiental.
