5.0 out of 5 stars A very pleasant listening experience
Like many others I bought the cd for one song, "Don't laugh at me". I had no idea who Mark Wills even was. After one play thru I new I had picked a winner and it has become one of my favorite cds. Every song on it is great, I'll 'gamble' on another of his cds anytime.

1.0 out of 5 stars CAN'T HARDLY WAIT!!!
I can't wait until this current trend of wimpy, lackluster, pop music runs it's course and we can hear real country music again. This is a prime example of what happens when you get all your musical inspiration by listening to the Young Guns soundtracks. Folks, do yourself a favor and buy Robbie Fulks.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Don't Laugh At Me" - an inspiration!, March 24, 2001
This review is from: Wish You Were Here (Audio CD)
The first time my husband heard "Don't Laugh At Me" he was driving down the road. Tears just started pouring down his cheecks. He thought about all the times that people had talked about Megan, his autistic daughter, and laughed at her and called her names. The times she has cried herself to sleep because people were cruel to her because they wouldn't try to understand her or just couldn't understand her. Do you know how it feels to cry yourself to sleep because of other people's tourments? Or are you one of those who get pleasure from other people's pain? This entire cd has wonderful songs with a special message to them. When we need an inspiration to trudge on in our efforts to help Exceptional Parents of Exceptional Children, we listen to "Don't Laugh At Me"!

I recently attended a youth seminar with around 120 high school sophomores from North Florida. There was a girl there named Jessica. She is deaf. As her talent she signed to the song "Don't laugh at me" The whole room was in tears. It is such an inspirational song. It applies to everyone. I really love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars ANXIOUSLY WAITING, September 24, 1999

I have just started going through my Country phase and have started listening to country music during the day. When I first heard "Wish You Were Here", I waited to hear who the artist was .... and everytime they played the song, never once did I hear the artist's name. I finally called the radio station last week and asked. The DJ thought I was a total idiot because I asked who sang that song. And now that I know, I'm anxiously waiting my CD in the mail. Everytime I hear that song, listening to the words makes me teary-eyed (I'm also a little emotional from being pregnant). When my coworkers ask why I'm so emotional, I try to explain the "hidden meanings" I get out of that song. Do you all think that "this place" is refering to Heaven? The people he sees that she knows say hello, those have to be her family and friends in Heaven???? Such a wonderful song. the other songs are great too. BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best!, July 2, 2000

"Wish You Were Here", makes you cry, "She's In Love", makes you feel the pain that the singer's going through, "Don't Laugh At Me" makes you think, and "I Do (Cherish You)", makes you smile. For that, i give this album the full 5 stars. Every song on here is a keeper, there's not a bad one in the bunch. After hearing this album, i got to scratch my head at why Mark isn't the biggest star in country music right now. If you like great songs and a breathtaking voice, pick this up!

I borrowed this CD from my cousin and didn't really think that I would fall in love with it. But I did! I knew who Mark Wills was because of his hit song "Nineteen Somethin'". As a teenager I'll admit his looks are what first caught my attention but once I listened to this CD I knew I was hooked. Unlike the other reviews I have read I have set my heart to the song "Help Me Fall". Anyone who has ever had a boyfriend/girlfriend can really appreciate this song. It talks about the hard feelings that come from trying so hard not to love someone because it hurts so much to do so. This song combined with "Last Memory" can really get to anyone who has had a break-up. This is going in to my favorites though because there is NOT a song on the album that I don't like. It's great and a really emotional CD. Thank Mark for a great CD and keep'em comin'.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, July 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Wish You Were Here (Audio CD)
Mark has done it again.......it's been over a year since I bought the CD, but it's one of the few I still listen to everyday. If only I could sing with such emotion!!!...when I first heard the song "Help Me Fall", I was overwhelmed. His first CD was excellent, but this one is brilliant!! Can't wait for his next release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a "been there, sang that" album!, September 29, 1998

Country western is full of "I loved you, you left me in my pickup truck" songs. Will's offering, "Wish You Were Here" is NOT that. Instead, the entire CD is a collection of songs that only the most hardened can listen to without feeling the need to cry.

The anthem of the downtrodden, "Don't Laugh At Me" seems to strike a universal chord. Did we all survive childhood unscathed by the cruel little so-and-so's who always seemed to be in each class we attended? We survived, but not necessarily unscathed.

Wills sings this anguish in his album, yet it isn't just gloom. He admonishes us to learn and live.

If you want light entertainment, don't buy this CD. If you want meaningful and beautifully performed songs of life, DO buy it!
