Driving home from work one day I heard "I Want To Be The One" on public radio and knew I had to have this album! This song combines poignant harmonica and guitar, and beautiful new ways to say "I love you". You may think you have never heard of Bobby Charles but this Louisianan wrote all the songs on this album and that includes two classics, "See You Later Alligator" and "Walking to New Orleans". Add in several members of Willie Nelson's band (including Willie), and a little backup singing by Willie Nelson and Fats Domino, and this album comes together as a fantastic collaboration of great talents. How much better can it get? The album also has quite a few good party songs, starting off with a great beat in "Not Ready Yet". And you definitely don't want to miss "The Mardi Gras Song" - it evokes the whole Mardi Gras scene for a mere fraction of the cost!. In "Promises, Promises (The Truth Will Set You Free)", Bobby expresses a few opinions about behaviors on the "road to the White House". "I Want To Be The One" remains my favorite and says exactly what I want to say to my husband, but there are other pretty ones included here too. "I Remember When", "I Don't See Me" and the title song, "Wish You Were Here Right Now" are very fine. In fact - there is not one single cut that we don't like - that is saying something! 5 Stars for Bobby Charles and his wonderful guests on this album!
