Book Description

It has always been Naomi Fontaine’s dream to practice small-town medicine—an ambition that brought her to Cypress Hollow, the charming, tight-knit community her late friend, knitting guru Eliza Carpenter, loved so well. But no matter how hard she tries, Naomi can’t seem to fit in here. Then rugged Rig Keller moves in to take over half of Naomi’s medical practice, and instantly charms everyone in town . . . including Naomi.

Rig saw what a broken relationship did to his brother, and has no interest whatsoever in getting serious. But the temptation to play doctor with his new partner is just too strong to resist. Any chance they might have of being truly knit together by love, however, depends entirely on what secrets they are willing to reveal . . . and on Rig’s willingness to risk his heart and Naomi’s desire to open hers completely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another wonderful Cypress Hollow yarn! October 31, 2011
By Carrie
Format:Paperback
I've been super excited about the newest Cypress Hollow book, and once again, it did not disappoint! I think this might be my favorite one. The story grabbed me from the first page and it just gets better and better. The characters are lovely and quirky and real, and it's funny and sweet and sad and surprising and sexy all at the same time. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another wonderfully steamy trip to Cypress Hollow! October 17, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Rachael Herron has done it again! Wishes and Stitches is another wonderfully crafted story populated by interesting, funny, and realistic characters making their way through the ups and downs of life while searching for love and a sense of belonging (and creating lots of sparks and steam along the way).

2.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 stars October 10, 2012
Format:Paperback
Did I enjoy this book: This was not a book that I read every free chance I had. I found this book to be rather slow. It was really hard for me to get into.

I did not feel for the main character, Naomi, at all. I did not find her sympathetic. I didn't get her. She was a knitter - loved to knit - and she moved to a town that was full of knitters. Yet, she didn't share her secret with ANYONE but complained that she wasn't accepted in the town. I also did not buy her shyness and awkwardness. It seemed to contrived.

With that being said, I did get into the book at the last 50 or so pages. That was when I finally got invested and wanted to see how it ended. The ending was good.

I really liked Bruno, the office assistant, and Frank, Rig's father. Both of these characters were well-written and fun to read. I didn't care all that much for Rig. He seemed cocky and a bit of an ass.

Would I recommend it: I would not.

Will I read it again: Nope.

3.0 out of 5 stars quick, fun read February 13, 2012
By Cee Ess
Format:Paperback
I'm a slow reader and I finished this in three days. It's not highly cerebral - not exactly Dostoevsky - but on a cold, winter Valentine's weekend, it was the right elixar. I give the author extra points for the Eliza quotes at the beginning of each chapter creating good character development, as well as the black humour (the part about urn). These things redeemed the book for me, with its outrageous story progression (although I liked the outrageous beginning of how Rig and Naomi met). You'll know in the first chapter if you like it or if you don't. Her romatic bits are "interesting" and I have to wonder if she's making fun it or if this is how she really pictures it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another charming Cypress Hollow yarn November 8, 2011
By Marlyn
Format:Paperback
Naomi Fontaine's dream has always been to be a small-town doctor. So when she has the opportunity to buy into a practice in Cypress Hollow, California, she jumps at it.
She's even able to get a charming little cottage to live in.

But, for some reason, it's not at all what she expected. Painfully shy, she never knows what to say to people, even when they speak to her first. At least, with old Dr. Pederson on such a long vacation, she's able to keep busy at work. And she can daydream about the uncharacteristic one-night-stand she had at that medical conference.

Then the guy (what kind of name is "Rig" anyway?) walks into the Tillie's Diner while Naomi's having breakfast. Not only is Rig's brother Jake captain of the town's fire department, he's the one Dr. Pederson hired to help Naomi with the medical practice.

Naomi does her best to avoid Rig, but it's hard when they have to work together. Keeping their relationship professional is tough when Rig won't cooperate -- and why does he seem to fit into the small town more easily than her?

All the Cypress Hollow regulars are here: Abigail and Cade, Lucy and Owen. It's not difficult to forsee where Naomi and Rig will end up, but the journey there is interesting and contains a few surprises.

The third Cypress Hollow yarn is as charming as the first two. The pattern for the shawl that Naomi is knitting is included at the end of the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars A reliable series May 7, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Cypress Hollow series caters shamelessly to us knitters, and that is a good thing. This was not one of the best. The plot verged on the silly, with extremely artificial reasons keeping the two characters apart. Hoping the next one (and I do hope there is one!) will recover the initial quality.

I was almost finished with this book when my kindle shut down and then when I started back up it said that this was not my book and I could not open it to finish it. How do I get this book back without having to purchase it again?
