Simply incredible. Here are 10 (count 'em...10!) CD's in a single box set covering the father of the Bakersfield Sound. Wynn Stewart, almost singlehandedly, created a genre of Country Music that still stands the test of time, with modern disciples like Heather Myles and Dwight. Here's is the man that Waylon called his favorite singer; who Dwight Yoakam considers one of the finest voices ever; who hired a young Merle Haggard as a Bassist; who sang alongside Buck Owens. This box set contains 300 (+/-) songs, as only Bear Family Records could undertake. You cannot be disappointed with this set. Sure, there are some remakes, but the originals are there as well. Personally, I find the 2d Disc to be my favorite, with it's nonstop fiddles and steel guitar; but there are other discs that cover his early (and thankfully short-lived) foray into Rock-n-Roll, as well as those that highlight his take on the Nashville Sound. Wynn's life was cut short, and done so by his own hand......but here's a chance to see what a pioneer and true visionary can accomplish with a little effort. A great Box Set. A++++

For all us hard-country obsessives this box set proves, beyond any doubt, the existence of God. A God, that is, who loves classic Bakersfield country music. Prior to this, there was only one Wynn Stewart compilation CD; while it was very good, it whetted the appetite for this treasure. As with all Bear Family releases, the quality of the packaging is superb. It contains every Wynn Stewart recording, complete session information and 10 CDs of just about the best country music you can find. Stewart has never enjoyed the reputation his music deserves. If that changes as a result of this box set, Bear Family will have done a great thing.

This is such a treasure chest of true country music.The songs wishful thinking playboy and it's such a pretty world today ought to be named national treasures.There is something so special about the way Wynn delivers them.I hope people will finally realize what a magnificent talent he was.This is real Country Music from a true genius. I also hope the country Music Hall of Fame will wakeup and vote this guy in because he sure deserves it.
