Red Umbrella shows incredible promise with their debut "Wishing for Boardwalk." Musically and lyrically, excellence is revealed in ways both subtle and explicit. Instead of aiming to be the next U2, Coldplay, Killers, etc., Red Umbrella has slyly deviated from that path, and have focused on something very unusual:
To be the first Red Umbrella.
Thankfully, the chaps have not detached themselves from being accessible.
Upon listening to Red Umbrella, I felt like I was visiting a good friend of the amicable sort. He said, "Follow me! Meet my new friends! Think about this! Consider that! Question your motive! Sing along, if you like!"
The music and the lyrics are easy to swallow, in the respect that they never leave the listener stranded amongst their uniqueness. Remaining still as a thought-provoking, ingenious, and enjoyable album, Wishing for Boardwalk proves that intelligent lyrics and music can be based around a desire to honor the Creator through creativity.
