This is another unique Christmas song, nicely accompanied by violin and piano. Though it is a sweet song, the violin adds a bittersweet/slightly melancholy quality to this piece and is supported by the lyrics which speak of a heart's desire at Christmas, not for material things but "something different", in finding how to "forgive and be forgiven" and in short, to find "the light" aka enlightenment. It is a kind of prayer.Although not specifically religious, this is a very spiritual piece without being overtly religious. By melody and execution, it is even-paced, soft (no drums), well-executed and lovely melody and worthy to be in every Christmas library. Truly deals with the essence of Christmas.

A "soft and dreamy" wish for Christmas,

An enjoyable and soft Christmas song, Leigh Nash sings in a acoustic voice about her hopes and dreams for Christmas, for relating to God and others. As she says in her song, this is a "soft and dreamy" wish, one that can be repeated over and over in the background of your life, to add a light and warm ambiance. The only thing I find awkward is her repeated line, "drop your hands into this heart of mine," because although the song is beautiful, this particular imagery is rather disconcerting! 4/5 |
