Jesse Ventura earned his fame during his eleven-year career as a professional wrestler, and later as a commentator for the sport. His induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame shows what a major influence he played. The bad boy of wrestling during his heyday, Ventura used some of his learned wrestling techniques outside the ring -- such as showmanship, outrageous antics, and manipulation of the media -- to aid in his gubernatorial campaign.
In addition, his experience as a radio host, and his roles in a variety of movies, made Ventura a visible -- and perhaps more viable -- candidate.
