4.0 out of 5 stars What a fun read! January 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I am not even really sure where to begin. There was so much I liked about this book. While I am going to try really hard not to give any spoilers that will impact your enjoyment of this story, I can not guarantee that I will not inadvertently over share. I apologize in advance, if I do. This is the first book in a trilogy about a woman who discovers she is a witch, as she is helping to bring down an evil organization. I know this sounds like many witch story arcs, but this story is anything, but typical. It incorporates familiar lore with new lore, making for very interesting characters and plot twists.

I'll tell you what I liked about it:

* Devan is a character I could easily relate to and care about. She is strong, yet vulnerable. She cares about others and often puts their needs before her own, but is never a door mat. While she is struggling with a horrid past, she uses it not as a weakness, but as the strength she needs to move forward and make things right.

* This book has witches, vampires, a faery-witch, a shaman, dhampirs, and a sheoque.

*I love that the characters are in their mid-thirties (or older - hundreds of years old ;0)). So many of books in this genre have young adult aged characters and I loved having characters closer to my age.

* You finish the story feeling like the story is complete, yet wanting more. There is no "I can not believe the author ended this here and now I have to wait months/a year to find out the end of the story" angst.

*Neither the love story nor the mystery/adventure overshadowed the other. It is a nice blend making this a good book for people who love romance as well as those loving the suspense of a good vs evil conflict.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart, Sexy, Fun November 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
As an avid fan of Paranormal Romance, this book gave me everything I was looking for. The story is a fresh twist on witches and other paranormal beings and the plot was never dull, keeping my interest from beginning to end. I really enjoyed the banter between the characters, especially Langston. The mentor/sidekick quickly became one of my new favorite characters. Ms. Hardin does a great job telling Devan's story. I am very much looking forward to her next book. This is an author to watch out for!

This book was fantastic and held my interest until the end. Olivia Hardin's writing style is excellent and her storytelling abilities are great! I loved the chemistry between Devan and Kent and all the secondary characters were fun! I can't wait to read more of this series!

3.0 out of 5 stars Story line fairly unique & intriquing October 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Overall a decent read. I spent a little too much time at the beginning trying to figure out what was going on, since the story starts rather abruptly. (I know, I know... hook the reader and all that.) Maybe there was too many things going on and not enough time to process anything from the start.

I did like the characters, but at times they felt a little younger than I think they were supposed to. The premise of the novel is intriguing, but I felt the ending conflict was done a little too easy, or something.

The writing was good and the story line fairly unique, so I am still interested to see where the series heads though!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! December 6, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Witch Way Bends is a fantastic book! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance and urban fantasy books. The lore and world building are well done and had interesting, unique elements. The story made me smile, cry, and swoon. The action is nicely paced and the story moves along well. The characters and plot are intriguing and entertaining. My favorite character is Langston. He is a very well written supporting character. I hope he has a follow up story of his own later. Olivia Hardin is a wonderful story teller, and I can't wait for the next story to learn more about Jill, Devan, and Kent.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining quick read February 8, 2013
By Sharon
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Good introduction to a series, with good development of the main characters, though a bit slow to present the background and magic setting. I would have preferred a little more explanation in several areas.

The romance seemed a little contrived somehow and I just did not get the impression of maturity I thought should be present with characters of those ages.

Interesting plotline, with an different twist on the usual human/vampire/witch/fae involvement. Generally speaking, from a personal point of view, I'd have preferred more action, more plot development and less romance. I do think readers coming from a romance reader's point of view will like this very much, however.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Paranormal/Urban Romance February 15, 2012
This story featured a solid plot and combined it with excellent characters. At times your uncertain who is friend or foe, but this is done on purpose in the beginning. There is plenty of steamy romance, vampires, witches, magic and secret organizations on both side. This story is action packed, but still has enough paranormal and romantic tones to keep you pulled in.

Will Devan be able to accept who she really is? Is she crazy or is Roon real? Can Langston teach and guide her before it's too late? Does Kent finally give in to his desire? You'll have to read it!

Overall this is a great story that mixes modern times with older lore. If you enjoy urban fantasy or paranormal romance, you will love this book! If you're looking to get into either genres this might be an excellent entry book too. I look forward to reading more stories out of the imagination of author Olivia Hardin.

More About the Author

Olivia Hardin realized early on how strange she was to have complete movie-like character dreams as a child. Eventually she began putting those vivid dreams to paper and was rarely without her spiral notebooks full of those mental ramblings. Her forgotten vision of becoming an author was realized when she connected with a group of amazingly talented and fabulous writers who gave her lots of direction and encouragement. With a little extra push from family and friends, she hunkered down to get lost in the words. She's also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and is sometimes accused of being artistic, though she's generally too much of a perfectionist to appreciate her own work. A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband and their puppy Bonnie.
