3.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good
When I was given this book to read as a reccomendation, I read the back and decided that it wasn't the book for me. But I'm glad that I gave it a try. Like the other Christopher Pike book I read, it is suspenseful and almost controlling without knowing. You tell yourself just one more chapter, until eventually you're tear eyed as you turn the last page. A great book.

A great reading adventure. The outcome of reading the book is almost 'magical'. Julia, a seventeen year old 'good witch' has learned through her mother, that she has great gifts to help the world. The journey is enlightening. One thing her mother told her never to do is look into a pond with the moonlight shining upon it. She's intrigued by this statement and gets trapped into seeing the future because of it. The story line picks up after this vision and what she does to stop it, the actions from all her friends and the conclusion. Pike, always goes into depth of the characters. You will feel as though you know them. You will feel for them. Intriguing and magical, I give this book a high rating and would recommend to most young adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Pikes Best, August 10, 2000
By
Renee (Los Alamos, New Mexico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Witch (Paperback)
I have read a lot of books by Pike and they have all been wonderful, yet I must say that 'Witch' is the best I've ever read. I loved the story line and the plot, even the tragity at the end. I related with the Character, Julia, who had lost her mother and I felt Julia's pain. I don't know if Pike had ever lost someone close to him but he writes as if he himself had been through the tragity. I never cry at movies or anywhere else but when ever I read this book or any book by him I can't stop. Seeing the future was hard for Julia but she found out that no matter what you see or what happeneds, you can't change what is meant to happen because everything happens for a reason. This book means a lot to me and I will never forget the story.

Witch is a great book. Somehow, Pike gets you to fall in love with his characters, feel their pain, cry when they cry. This terrific book is right up there with Remember Me and the Starlight Crystal. Go get a copy of it now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Really Good, July 25, 2005
This review is from: Witch (Paperback)
Christopher Pike was a really good at bringing the character's alive in this book. I really felt drawn to Julia's problems and was rooting for her. Although I wish she wouldn't have went after Jim and let Amy get the man. The ending was very sad and I wished it could've ended differently for all those involved.

I finished reading this book yesterday.. and 4 the 1st time in my entire life i started crying over a book!! this book is one of the best i've ever read.. i know it's soo not real but while reading it, i really thought there was a girl called Julia who was really a witch that can heal! I think that's the special thing about Christopher Pike.. its that he makes all his stories appear real!! I think that's a talent which most writers do not have!! You should really read this book..

5.0 out of 5 stars *an incredible written story that'll touch everyone's heart*, August 25, 2002

This review is from: Witch (Library Binding)
I loved the book, WITCH, because it was very well written & an unbelievable tale. This is one of PIKE's best. In this book I really felt like I was Julia, just like Sita in The Last Vampire series. Julia doesn't kick [rear] as good as Sita, but she does have some incredible powers. There's so much to this story to even explain. I did enjoy the ending, even though it was sad. Another thing I love about PIKE is that he makes death seem not as final as it's cracked up to be. He opens his readers up to a new world with his writings. A world where anything is possible & death is only a new begining. He's got to be my favorite writer, even though plenty of people say this...I am speaking the truth. He's the only author I know who has so many page-turners & none alike. He has a talent that every 1 of his readers should cherish, I do envy PIKE for this. But like I said WITCH had an extroadinary ending. I loved every word of it! But I don't want to spoil any of it! maybe some people do, but I don't. I hate when reviewers tell about the story....it's wrong! Let them experience themselves! Especially WITCH, you'd be too kunfused {LOL} to understand the story. SO read it! if u don't then it's your own damn fault for not listening to me or the above reviews. Have fun reading it, I sure did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Pike, September 5, 2011
This review is from: Witch (Mass Market Paperback)
Julia is a witch who looks into a pond with sunshine on it and sees current events. Only she breaks a rule and accidentally views the pond with moonlight on it sees the future. What she sees changes her behavior, she does things she wouldnt have done otherwise to try and change the future as she saw it in the pond. Of course, our actions always have consequences and so do Julia's. Its an excellent read with a heartbreaking ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the cover or the YA tag fool you, October 21, 2009
This review is from: Witch (Mass Market Paperback)
I personally LOVED the old hand-painted covers featuring the 80's dressed teens but maybe that's just me. This book left me in tears and I have read it probably five times in 15 years. It is so beautifully paced. You fall in love with the main character and you really feel for her. She is a which and when she stares into sunlight reflecting into water she can see things. One night she looks at the water in moonlight... something she was warned never to do, and sees a future she MUST change at ALL costs!!
A great read front to back.
Loved it.
