Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Talented, beautiful, and guilt-ridden, Kate Malone, M.D., goes to the Chickasaw Tribal Lands in Oklahoma to practice medicine-and to make a difference. But sinister forces are at work, and as Kate struggles to win the trust of the wary people, she is targeted for murder. It takes all the resourcefulness and courage of Chickasaw leader Eagle Mingo to keep her safe. Webb (Where Dolphins Go, Doubleday, 1993) has created well-developed, magnetic characters and given them a passionate, heart-wrenching story. Readers who enjoy reading Webb's novels might also find works by Kathleen Eagle of interest. [Webb lives in Tupelo, Mississippi.]

This wonderful romantic suspense is a page-turning, sizzling knock-out of a book! There is so much to love here - Eagle, the Chickasaw hero is everything a great character should be, complex, sexy, strong, tender and totally dedicated to those he loves. Some of the most beautiful writing in the book centers around Eagle's Native American heritage. And Dr. Kate Malone is more than his match. I'm glad the author showed the details of her Southern family, which made her adjustment to the Chickasaw tribal lands and people all the more poignant. This story is remarkable. There are timeless themes here: clash of cultures, blending old ways with new, clash between industry and environment, the bonds of family, and of course, the enduring power of love. Don't miss this book! BTW, the cover is not bad to look at either!!

"Peggy Webb has outdone herself with Witch Dance. The fast-paced suspense kept me thoroughly entertained. Great book!"

I almost read the entire book the first time I picked it up. Only heavy eyelids prevented me from finishing it in one read. I love the way Peggy Webb describes surroundings and events. Reading her books are like watching a film in my mind.

I couldn't put this book down. From page one I was drawn into a story rich with suspense, romance, and Native American legend. Though this is a really complex read that tackles issues such as environmental pollution. It was the characters that kept me turning the pages. I rooted for Kate throughout the book, and needless to say, I wanted to take Eagle home with me!

Eagle and Kate are the Main characters, with several secondary - very engaging - characters. While reading this, I kept going back and forth between several characters trying to decide who the baddie was here. This book was very well written, and the characters fleshed out well. And while there were a few spots where it jumped between characters with no warning, all in all it was a very enjoyable book.

I couldn't put this book down. It's a riveting, complex read filled with wonderful characters, haunting Native American lore, and beautiful romance. Though this romantic suspense is from Peggy Webb's classic collection, the subject matter is extraordinarily timely. The author tackles pollution of our lakes and streams in a way you won't soon forget. Witch Dance is a great read!

"Witch Dance" is an amazing page-turner! Peggy Webb captured me from the first scene and never let me go. From the minute Kate raced into the snow toward her burning clinic, I was hooked. I love the Native American background of this book, the richness of its characters and beauty of the romance. Don't miss this one!
