1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother Wasting Your Time With This Book
Before getting this book, I had heard nothing but raves about Laurie Cabot and all of her books. I read and reread reviews on all of her books and it sounded as though it would be more than helpful/enlightening to read them. I WAS WRONG. This book was disjointed and the "Celtic" myths were splintered beyond belief. Ms. Cabot would begin on a thought and...

This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
I included this book in my list of books that are empowering to women; though, to be honest, I was a little doubtful when I first purchased it. I had some preconcieved ideas about Laurie Cabot that made me feel reluctant to read her work. I am not a "showy" witch, as I believe that spirituality is something which is personal and not for public display -- Ms. Cabot, is, as many witches know and as she herself admits, a very "visible" witch who likes to dress in formal robes and wear magical jewelry. However, this book taught me to see beyond these differences in approach to witchcraft, and to embrace the special abilities which we, as women, share. This book is suitable for witches and non-witches alike, as Laurie Cabot steps back from the idea of the Witch as a religious figure, and uses her as a metaphor for female empowerment -- as the witch represents society's most deep-seated prejudices against womanhood: sexual freeedom, the power of intuition, and our unique connection to the healing Earth and its cycles. A wonderful read for any woman who wants to awaken her inner "Witch."

5.0 out of 5 stars laurie cabot's best book, November 4, 2000
By
This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
I have read other books by laurie cabot, and find them to be ok, but this book by far is her best. Shows you how to awaken the witch in yourself, gives you some celtic history told in a fine story manner, and makes you feel proud to be a woman. She shows you the best sides of women that we sometimes forget ourselves, and makes you feel empowered. A must have for all women, even if you're not pagan, still a wonderful addition to your library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Down to earth and empowering, June 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
A very well-written, comprehensive book, covering the basics of witchcraft and giving the reader the feeling that magick isn't something that's "up there" but rather something that is accessible to everyone and can easily be a part of your daily life. It aims to help all women get in touch with their 'inner witch' through examples, stories from mainly celtic mythology and through small medidation and divination exercises you can do at home. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bewitching blend of female empowement thru Goddess Tales, September 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book due to the personal growth meditations fuled by Cabot's storytelling. Some tales explore the Celtic Goddesses and their history while others give you insight on Cabot's own spiritual path, enabling you to learn more about this very special Witch. Above all, this work is supportive to any woman who wants to learn more about herself on a spiritual, emotional, psychological and scientific level. You will also find some old but true magical workings from Cabot, yet will not shy away first time readers. The exercises in this book are creative, rewarding and very inspiring. Cabot portrays the crone gently guiding you through a woman's time of darkness, personal growth and life changes. Her tone is strong, comforting and most importantly, frank. And last but not least, this work is hinted with many traces of life's own experiences!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for all women, December 30, 1999
This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
I loved this book. Although I happen to be a witch, I think it speaks to all women. I see too many of myfriends throw off the gifts they expierience as women as curses. I would recommend this book for all teen girls. What is truly perfect is that it doesn't insult men. Too many feminist books cast off men are inferior.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book is what being a Woman is all about., July 21, 1999
This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
I am a guy and I loved this book, it was excellent! This book is what being a woman is all about in my opinion. I would love to date a woman who lived by these teachings, it would be exciting. This book did have some flaws though. I'm not sure everyone could relate to all the fairy tales she writes and I'm not sure everyone is interested in reading these myths either. I honestly didn't see a whole lot a woman can apply to her life from this book, but this book points out many things a woman should already know and already do, things that are often overlooked or misunderstood. The exercises and applied tales are nice and they could really help any woman, or even perhaps, any man.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun journey through feminine empowerment, April 7, 2001
This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
Laurie Cabot has a point with the title of her book - there is a witch in every woman. This book, and its soft twists and turns, helps to lead the reader to her (or even his) inner witch, to realize that power comes from within. The language is a bit lofty at times, but is forgiveable when you find the message inside the pages. It's an easy read, and a worthy addition to any witch's library (whether she knows she's a witch, or not!).

5.0 out of 5 stars A guide on how to find yourself and discover your abilities, January 5, 2001

This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
Wow. This book is so helpful! It was the second book i've read on wicca, after a lot of research over the internet, and some lists dedicated to this deep and amazing path. And this book was especially nice, 'cause it isn't just about "how to make a spell for..." no way. It teaches how only YOU have the ability to be *YOU*. It helps you find the strenght, power, glamor and peace you already have. There are comparision with Celtic Myths, but not in a boring way, i mean it's not all about myths. It' so insightful, it's about psychic, feminine, magick... It's about being a maiden, a mother, a worker, a soldier, a cheff... everything you WANT to be, and FOR YOU, and anybody else. It shows you how can you reach your goals by meditating, and how to get that alpha state. It has the practical, the spiritual, the mythical... Complete, and you can't stop reading it.

Note: It also was my second book in english, actually. I'm so lazy to read books in english...but imagine how intresting this one was that i could do it! (i'm spanish-spoken)

4.0 out of 5 stars A great start, March 19, 2002
This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
A wonderful book for the begining witch or those interested in learning more about the traditions and truths of Wicca. (Notice I didn't say anything about women ... a good read for men too!)

The authors do a wonderful job of explaining the basics of Wicca, dispelling myths and misconceptions, and relaying history. The text is well written and easy to understand, with stories and tales from folklore to help demonstrate points. My only complaint is that some areas of the book are too vague. For instance, one chapter talks about psychic protection and projection of energy, and although the author gives an interesting story from her own life she does not give specifics on how to follow her example.

All in all it is a good book for the beginner. More advanced practitioners may benifit from the simple approach and certain spells/activities, but more resources and further study are needed for the serious student.

5.0 out of 5 stars Witch In Every Woman, June 27, 2000

This review is from: The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and Empower (Paperback)
This book is an excellent way to find yourself and gain a sense of pride in being a woman. I thought it was wonderful and enjoyed the stories thoroughly and I'm not even a Wiccan. Anyway, it's a great book, comforting and entertaining. Great for people who might feel put down for their religous choices or even just their gender.
