I found this author by chance but I have to say I enjoyed her book. It is not a great book but it is a cute read. Lot's of humor and charm. I think you would enjoy the read.

Jade Delarue is a real witch. Her husband disappeared six yrs ago and now he is being declared dead and she will get his insurance in the amount of a million dollars. She has recently done a spell for a woman named Brenda, who ultimately leaves her fiance at the alter. So Jade does a spell for him to find true love, because she does no harm as a witch. At the same time she does a spell for herself because she is lonely after six yrs. But the spirits have their own agenda, and because of an ill wind the candles she lights melt togather.

Mason Kincaid is the jilted fiance, he is also an investigator, so guess who the insurance company calls on to check her out and find out if the husband is really dead. Yep!! Mason. Mason, while not being devestated by his jilting, is not looking to fall in love in the immediate future. But those pesky spirits put the one woman who can light his fire, right in his path.

I thought it was so cute and the secondary characters were great and it seems they will have their own stories. A good afternoon read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for an upcoming vacation read., January 10, 2008
This review is from: Witch in the House (Mass Market Paperback)
Lyle Thomas is thrilled when Brenda jilts her fiancé, leaves him standing at the alter, and returns to him. Jade Delarue is happy for Lyle and Brenda. Jade enjoys using her Craft to help others. That night Jade lights a candle and casts a spell for the man Brenda jilted to find true love quickly. Jade hates the thought of the poor man being unhappy. Then Jade decides to light another candle and cast a love spell for herself. She imagines a "Pierce Brosnan clone". It is only later that Jade realized the wax from the two candles had ran together. The two spells have merged.

Mason Kincaid is a private investigator. When he got word, by special messenger at the church, that Brenda had dumped him, he left the church for the nearest bar. But now he and Anthony (the best man) are on a potential life insurance fraud case involving three suspects. Jade is one of "the targets". What better way to keep an eye on Jade than to check in as guests to Mystic Manor, her B&B? Yet Mason soon realizes that Jade is the woman he has been hoping for all his life. Now Mason simply has to make Jade see it too.

**** This story is loaded with humor and romance. Perfect for reading on a rainy evening or to perk up your spirits on a day when all seems to be going wrong. Light-hearted and magical, this story is fabulous. ****

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, November 8, 2007

This review is from: Witch in the House (Mass Market Paperback)
Jade Delarue is a witch. A sexy witch. She wears stiletto boots, and has a knack with herbs. She offers her expertise to those in need, but now she's looking for a love of her own. So she casts a spell to find her true love. Only the spell gets mixed up with another. Jade quickly tries to undo her mistake, but it appears to be too late because her dream man arrives at Mystic Manor.

After being jilted at the alter, Mason Kincaid wants to forget all about women and love and just spend a happy week in Aruba. Too bad he's stuck in West Bluff, Missouri in the dead of winter investigating potential insurance fraud. The only bright side is the subject of his investigation, the very intriguing Ms. Delarue.

While Mason appears unaffected by Jade's spells and charms designed to drive him away, neither is immune to the chemistry simmering between them. As Mason learns Jade's secret, he becomes desperate come clean to her and to reveal his own secret.

This story has something for everyone: passion, humor, symbols abound, and a memorable cast of characters. But what I love about Ms. McKnight's books is the subtext. With every word the characters utter, you can hear all they aren't saying. And not just between Jade and Mason. This delightful cast of characters all mean more than they say. I can't wait to revisit West Bluff and Mystic Manor for Annie's and Courtney's stories.--Reviewed by Julie Opdyke

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and Bewitching, November 2, 2007
This review is from: Witch in the House (Mass Market Paperback)
Jade knows casting the spell that reunited Brenda and Lance on the eve of Brenda's marriage to another man was the right thing to do, but wanting to tie up cosmic loose ends, Jade lights a spell candle to bring true love to Brenda's jilted groom. And after six years of mourning her lost husband Jade has decided it's time to move on and find love again, so while she's playing matchmaker - after all the matches are already out - she also lights a second candle for herself. But fate is sneaky and the candles melt together joining the spells. So to Jade's dismay who should turn up on the doorstep of Jade's Bed and Breakfast several days later hungover and still in his tux but Brenda's ex-fiance Mason Kincade.

Mason and his partner Anthony weasel their way into Jade's B&B as guests under false pretenses, they are really undercover to make sure that Jade isn't perpetrating an insurance scam and that her soon-to-be-legally-dead husband isn't really just in hiding waiting to collect the dough. But once Mason sobers up he is amazed to discover that not only does he feels an incredible instant attraction to Jade, he's no longer that broken up about Brenda. Mason tries unsuccessfully to fight what he feels for Jade, struggling with the ethical conflict his secret agenda presents. In the mean time, Jade is so busy desparately trying to sever the connection between the spells, and casting counter hexes to try to send Mason away so that they each can find their perfect loves, that it takes her awhile to realise that Mason just might be the perfect man that she wished for. But like Mason, Jade has secrets of her own. Can what they feel survive the truth?

This was sweet and sexy and funny. I loved Jade and the witchy elements were respectfully handled. And Mason was terrific, although I don't know about the Pierce Brosnan clone thing, seems like it would be hard to go undercover having such a distinctive appearance. But otherwise, there is no way Jade couldn't have fallen for Mason, he was intelligent, open minded and his plan to win Jade over in the end was clever and so irresistably romantic.

Jade wasn't the only witch whose husband has mysteriously vanished, so be on the lookout for two more witchy romances, for Jade's friends Annie and Courtney.

4.0 out of 5 stars Alluring Witchy Romance, July 24, 2009
This review is from: Witch in the House (Mass Market Paperback)

I liked this book, but I felt too much was left unanswered. Mason was my favorite character - I liked his determination and personality. The chemistry/tension between Jade and Mason was comical and enticing. So I really liked the story, but I had a slight problem with the writing. Too much was left open and there are no more books to answer certain things, which was promised in a note by the author at the end of the book. I wanted to know: what did Jade's mother send her?, what happened to the three missing men?, whose dog is that?, does Jade know about the third cellar? And so on...I just wanted more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jenna! Write more Witchy Fiction!!!!, December 13, 2008

I absolutely LOVED this book. This is very realistic from the spell & witch practice perspective. It felt like she really understood the depth of what witches, pagans, and those of the paranormal are all about. This book was very charming and I couldn't put it down.

I started reading Jenna's books with "Witch in the House" and then went on to discover more of her writing. She's very fun and keeps you interested throughout.

Jenna, Witchy Fiction needs more writers like you! Please write more - Maybe even take another character from "Witch in the House."

4.0 out of 5 stars pleasant read, August 11, 2008
This review is from: Witch in the House (Mass Market Paperback)
Not a bad little read. I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading the other two witches stories. I gave it 4 stars because it is a simple book, not real plot twisty, pretty staight forward. I would recommend it to others that have an open mind about belief systems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightfully Witchy Romance, April 22, 2008
This review is from: Witch in the House (Mass Market Paperback)
Witch In The House by Jenna McKnight was utterly adorable. If you like the novels done by Annette Blair you will most certainly love this. A witchy romance that will make you laugh out loud and not want to put the novel down.

Jade Delarue is a witchy sex kitten in stiletto's who turns heads wherever she goes. Wavy hair, long legs and green eyes so bewitching you'll be instantly seduced. She's a witch who knows her stuff but the spirits have a great sense of humor with her.

Mason Kincaid is a Pierce Bronson look alike to the t. Dark hair, steel blue eyes and a six pack of abbs to die for. Ouch, don't touch that it's hot type of man. Yumm! Poor Mason is down on his luck with being jilted at the alter and after a few drinks and a witches spell he ends up at an unexpected, don't want to be here place. He loves diving and warmth but ends up with snow and cold. That'll teach him to tie one on. LOL!

The story starts out with Mason getting jilted at the alter, getting drunk, then finding himself in cold weather with a buddy who has found them a job at a B & B. Upon arriving at the B & B, Mason turns to stone as soon as the door is opened and reveals a goddess of a woman that's certainly too beautiful to be real. Wow talk about steam heat. Whew!

You have a novel of witchcraft, mystery, romance, hot steamy sex and screw ups that will tickle your funny bone to the max. It is smooth, consistent and just overall great. What more can I say. If you miss out on this one then you're seriously missing a real cutey.

Jenna McKnight has done such a wonderful job with this novel that I am already salivating for the next one in the series. Kudos for a story that details witchcraft, gives us a romantic ending that will surprise the best romantic and a mystery that goes from page one to the very end.

I thought this book was hysterical! It had a great story line, and I actually had to read every word instead of skimming so I didn't miss any of the incredible humor in this book. I picked this book up by chance and now I am going to order the author's other books and I can't wait for the next installment in this series.
