Abbey Harmon (called "Hanover" the back of the book cover), 17, her parents and 10-year-old brothers Peter and Paul spend a summer in the sleepy Massachusetts town of Seacliffe. Rife with history pertaining to the infamous Salem witch trials, Seacliffe remains enshrouded in mystery as does the house. It has a history steeped in history related to the Salem trials; the illustrious Crane family built the house and supposedly their daughter Felicity was hanged for witchcraft.

Abbey, a Manhattanite detests the summer home immediately. She and her younger brother Peter sense something wrong in the summer house and sense the presence of spectors. Her summer is brightened when a pen pal in Liverpool mails her a Beatles' single and pendant to match; she meets the shy, somewhat silly and immature Katie Kennedy and her older brother, Riley.

Abbey is determined not to like anything or anybody in Seacliffe. Her defenses get chipped away by the cheerful Katie and when Abbey discovers her steady in Manhattan has been seeing other people, she realizes that maybe Riley isn't so bad after all.

The other discovery Abbey makes is in the history of the house. It seems to have a link to the 1690s. Katie knows about a closet in the "keeping room" that is really a link to that era.

Abbey goes through the closet, not unlike Lucy in "The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe" and uncovers some startling secrets. The worlds of the 1690s and the early 1960s collide almost painfully, yet the author pulls it off with finesse.

Questions remain. Can history be changed? Can Felicity be spared the hangman's noose? What of those who knew Felicity? And will Abbey return? What parts do Riley and Katie play? All in all, a masterfully crafted book that will certainly hold readers' interest, regardless of age.

This book was very well written and is the best I've read. The storyline is exciting and at the end of each chapter, you will want to read the next. Abby is a normal teenager who moves to Seacliff, Massachusettes for the summer. She is very bored and unhappy with the other teenagers there. Then she weets a boy named Riley. Then a stranger from the past comes to take Abby back in time to save an innocent girl accused of being a witch. The story is the best. I couldn't put it down. So if you want to read a good book, read Witch Hunt!!!

I love this book. I've read it 5 times. And each time it seems to get BETTER! If thats even possibly. I think it's pieced together really good too.

Both young adult readers and their parents will enjoy WITCH HUNT. I am so pleased that Kensington has this book back in print!

I recently read Witch Hunt. It was a strange and unusual book that I loved. From when Abbey inherited her dead uncles mansion in Seacliff, Massachusetts, until she met Zachariah and went back through time in her cupboard. Abbey dreaded having to spend a whole summer in a patriotic, old, small town. that is until she found out the history of witch trials and the secret cupboard in the keeping room. This is how she met Zachariah. He was from Seacliff, three-hundred years ago, but he came through time to see Zachariah in the past. I would really recommend this book to anyone. It's humorous, romantic, scare, and keeps you thinking of what's next.

This is a story set in the sixies which I liked right away. All the rumors of unrest and not knowing that the world as we know it is about to change. Abbey and her family are spending the summer at the old house of her uncle. Rumors are flying that 300 years ago a teenaged year just like Abbey was convicted and hanged for being a witch. Suddenly two people break into her house and comes to find out that they are from the past 300 years ago. Suddenly Abbey is thrown into the past and is about to be hanged. Read this book to find out what happens next....

I read this story about six years ago, when I borrowed it from my older cousin. I loved it. It takes place in the 1960s, and the main character, Abbey, travels back in time and is accused of being a witch. Along the way, she has to change the history of the town she has just moved to. And a lot of other stuff happens, too. I love this book, and cannot wait to read it again.

All the clues throughout the book get pieced together so perfectly

I read this book a very long time ago as a teen and i still remember it very well. This book was the beginning of my love for reading. It's a great story with the historical witch hunts, and the 1960's setting for Abbey's present-day life.

Taking place in June of 1963, "Witch Hunt" is about the mysterious past of an old Massachusetts home Abbey Harmon and her family have inherited. Apparently, the young woman (Felicity Crane) who lived there in the late 1600s was tried and killed as a witch. Felicity's boyfriend, Zachariah Wellbourne, knew of her powers, especially of the hidden closet in her house that allowed her to travel forward in time. That is how he is able to appear in 1963. But now he's stuck in the 20th century and unable to stop the fate that awaits Felicity--unless Abbey will help him.

There are no ghosts in "Witch Hunt", rather the past comes back to haunt Abbey via time travel instead of through supernatural means, a much more interesting method than if the author had settled for a typical story about a wronged witch. Another different point in the book is the way it's written: entirely in the present tense. I can't say that I really liked that since I'm used to past-tense writing. It was too distracting, but this is still a pretty good teen book.
