Contemporary romance with a touch of magic...
Jake thought he had a juvenile delinquent witch in need of rescue. Romy couldn't decide if he was a kidnapper, liar, or too good to be true.
Throw in Tattoo Boy, sparking fingers, and a seven-year-old who can see the future, and you have all the makings for a romance.
Really.
Well, there's some really great linguine and a duet from West Side Story, too.
Novel Nibbles are snack-sized reads. Short novels for your lunch break, your iPhone, and any other time a quick read is the perfect length. They are about 20,000 words (70-80 pages).
Debora Geary is working on several more books expected out in the next year, if the kids don't spill any more water on her laptop.

I received this Nibble from the author, and found it to be as with the first Novel Nibble in the series, a short and sweet romance, with believable, heart-warming characters
Jake is a witch hunter who is also a witch, tracking down talented newbie witches who have slipped through the net and are in need of guidance, education and friendship.
In a world where the last hunter was not interested in female sorcerers, failing to contact them as little girls and help them deal with their skills, leaving them vulnerable to misunderstandings and suspicion, Jake decides to take a stand and help free the local female witch population from years of prejudice and neglect.
Then he meets Romy, sassy, talented and bruised by her past.
And so the fun starts.
It's a great short read, and even if you don't think you'd ever love a witch, if you love romance, this could certainly satisfy your cravings.

This is the second Geary "Witch" title I've read, and I'm much happier with this one than I was with "A Modern Witch". (Note that the other wasn't bad, it just didn't "spark" for me.) It quite simply hits all of the points that make for both a good romance and good storytelling.
The characters are quirky, believable enough while being pleasantly "over the top" in places -- why, of course, our hero stopped off at Julliard for a classical music education between witch school and his first witching job: doesn't everyone? -- and ultimately fun to spend a few hours with. There's pleasant level of tension carried through to keep us from getting complacent, and to let us thoroughly enjoy the conclusion.
And finally, there's magic. Ms. Geary has established an urban fantasy world where witches can be thoroughly modern and live their lives without disrupting the mundane world too much. This book visits some of those disruptions -- it's hard to grow up as an untrained witch who randomly lights fires in your sleep -- but mostly keeps us pleasantly ensconced in the witching world. It's not as elaborate as some world-building you might find, but it works to tell a good story, and it's the story that matters.
As always, I thank the author for telling me in advance that I was getting a novelette and not a full-length potboiler. It's a simple enough courtesy, but that alone is enough to keep me coming back. I've encountered too many others who give you 100 pages of story plus 150 pages of unwanted "bonus" padding to make it look like you're getting something bigger.

Debora Geary is a relatively new author but don't let that fool you -- she writes like she has been doing this forever. By "this" I mean creating characters readers feel passionate about and stories that have an un-put-downable quality that ensures you will not sleep until you've finished.
To Love a Witch is funny, sweet, charming, clever and utterly compelling. I hate cooking but I'd truly love to have Jake and Romy over for a meal just so I could get to know them even better. As with all of this author's offerings, whether full length or nibbles, the story ends too quickly and I found myself sitting alone, staring at the last page, for quite some time as I envisioned all of the possible adventures that could happen when Earth and Fire witches get together.
If you want to read something that will make you feel good about life right down to your toes, get this Novel Nibble...then get everything else you can find by Debora Geary.

Witches and their troubles
Debora Geary has a tremendous number of books and she is now expanding the story line through these novel nibbles. They are shorter, but pack a punch.
