A hilarious new fantasy.,
This review is from: Witch Twins (Hardcover)
Claire and Loon are twins -- and witches. Their grandmother is a powerful, five-star witch -- and they don't even have one star yet! Determined to get their first star, the sisters practice more spells to help them get more powerful. But they have trouble -- their father is about to marry a dreadful woman, and her name is Fluffy. Fluffy will make their lives miserable -- and the twins have to stop her. They don't know if they can use spells powerful enough to stop their father from marrying her, and it's a big risk -- but can they take it? Witch Twins is a hilarious new fantasy by Adele Griffin. It could have used more plot and been a little longer, but if you're looking for a great witch story, this new fantasy is highly recommended.

Laugh-Out-Loud Fantasy for All Ages,
By
This review is from: Witch Twins (Paperback)
Ten-year-olds, Claire and Luna, identical twins, are almost one-star-witches. Unfortunately, they haven't quite made it yet. Hence, unlike most witches, they don't have their cats yet, and aren't permitted to do magic away from their Grandmother's - a five-star-witch - home. But that doesn't stop the two mischevious sisters from causing all sorts of trouble at home. When Claire and Luna find out that their father is marrying a woman whose name is - get this - Fluffy, the two girls believe that evil Fluffy will covince their father to move to her native Texas. So the twins decide to ruin their father's wedding, with a little help from their magic counterpart.
There are many books on the market about young witches, but none as light-hearted and hilarious as Adele Griffin's WITCH TWINS. Claire and Luna are marvelous characters, whose wacky personalities will keep middle readers laughing out loud from beginning to end. Filled with heartwarming family moments, as well as pure fun, and strange magic, WITCH TWINS is something that can't be missed. Erika Sorocco Book Review Columnist for The Community Bugle Newspaper

A hilarious fantasy that's a whole lot of fun to read.,
This review is from: Witch Twins (Hardcover)
Claire and Luna look like ordinary, ten-year-old identical twins. But they're not. The girls have inherited magic powers from their maternal grandmother, and are on their way to becoming witches. When their father announces that he's marrying his girlfriend, annoying Fluffy, the girls are devastated. They fear that Fluffy will steal their father, and possibly even persuade him to move to her home state of Texas. The desperate girls are denied help by their grandmother, who insists it's against the rules to change Destiny. Claire and Luna are on their own if they want to stop the wedding, but their plans will have unexpected and hilarious results. This was an entertaining, funny book that I reccomend to young readers who enjoy light, humorous fantasy novels.

Claire and Luna's Book of Shadows,
By
This review is from: Witch Twins (Paperback)
This story is about two girls, twins named Luna and Claire. Claire and Luna are very close and share everything including the same class at school. That is until Ms. Fleegerman takes over the class. She separates the twins and they have to be in different classes for the first time ever. The girls' mother gives the girls the advice to try it for a while. But their Grandmother has other ideas. Grandy, as the girls call her, marched right into school and cast a little spell on Ms. Fleegerman. Nothing serious, but things weren't the same for quite a while in Ms. Fleegerman's classroom.
Luna and Claire's parents are divorced and the girls had been fine about it until their father announced his engagement to Fluffy. Fluffy's real name is Edith Hortense but everyone calls her Fluffy because her sisters always made her hair look fluffy when she was a little girl. The girls don't like Fluffy very much. She is big, loud, wears bright clothes and calls them "sugar" or "gals". The day that Fluffy took the girls shopping for their wedding dresses was a disaster. Claire and Luna picked out dresses that looked just like bumblebees...the ugliest dresses in the store just to try to ruin the wedding. The dresses look so much like bumblebees that Fluffy actually had an allergic reaction while they were at the store. Luna and Claire's favorite place to visit is Bramblewine. That of course is where Grandy lives. While the girls are there they get to practice simple spells like one where they cast a spell to make their brother's bully, Stew Zumback, like him but backfired and instead their brother, Justin, liked Stew! Boy did Justin act like a fool. Luna and Claire, because they're witches, thought they could brew up a "potion" to stop their father and Fluffy from loving each other. On the day of the wedding, when Luna and Claire walked into the church there were dead flowers all over. (That's what the potion did) and the girls chose that one because they knew how much Fluffy loved flowers. But, when it was time for Fluffy to walk down the aisle, Fluffy became very upset about the flowers. The girls felt really bad about what they had done and ran up the street to their school where they changed from the hideous dresses they had picked out to torture Fluffy to pretty dresses they had used for a play in Drama Club. Then, they went to their classroom and found their teacher and asked her for the paper flowers she had made for the classroom because the real ones for their father's wedding were dead. Ms. Fleegerman not only agreed to let the girls use the flowers, she even helped them carry them to the church. When the girls got back to the church, their gradfather was singing "Old Black Magic" and the whole place was in a riot over the flowers. Then the girls and their teacher hung up the paper flowers and the guests calmed down. The wedding started all over again and the girls realized that love was more powerful than magic. I would recommend this book to people who like magic or like funny stories because I laughed a lot while reading this book. It also made me realize that I have always known the message from this book. That love is the most important part of life.
