5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put it Down!
James Patterson is a fantastic writer of adult books, who knew he could also keep a young boy engaged in a book for more than 5 minutes! My 11 year old son got this new series Witch and Wizard, he loved the book so much he made me and his grandmother read it. It was action packed and held my attention the entire way through...I finished it in less than 2 days! This is...

3.0 out of 5 stars book and cartoon
I have both the original book by Patterson and then this cartoon. The cartoon follows with the plot of the original book quite well. The quality of the print is excellent. It would not have to be so expensive shiny paper print, but it was readable and the plot was easy to follow even if it was a cartoon made after the original book. The illustrators were not the best of...

It would not have to be so expensive shiny paper print, but it was readable and the plot was easy to follow even if it was a cartoon made after the original book. The illustrators were not the best of the best, but they were still good. If you like cartoons, then this is your book.
The word cartoon is used here even if it has had various different meanings since the Renaissance. In 19th century it referred to humorous strips but that is not the meaning of the word I use here. It means a graphic medium in which images convey a sequential narrative. I did not use a word graphic novel intentionally, because that word used to mean a hard cover format of a comic strips published in a form of a book.
This is a novel published as a series of images telling a similar story as in the fiction book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Comic Book, October 12, 2011

This review is from: Witch & Wizard: Battle for Shadowland (Witch & Wizard (IDW Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
When I ordered this book, I thought I would be getting another book in the Witch & Wizard series. I was disappointed when my order arrived and it was a hardback "comic book." This has happened once before with a James Patterson book I had ordered. I thought I had read the description carefully and do not remember anything about it being a comic and not a novel. I enjoy James Patterson books; he's my favorite author, but I was very disappointed.

My daughter and I read the first Witch and Wizard and loved it so we searched for the continuing line of books. We did not want the comic book style and that is what we got. It is awful and so hard to follow. I wanted to return it but we were out of town and too much time had gone by. Do not purchase this book even if you like comic books it is just the worst!

4.0 out of 5 stars Graphic Novel, December 27, 2010
This review is from: Witch & Wizard: Battle for Shadowland (Witch & Wizard (IDW Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
Not to be mean to the people who rated this so low but 1) you provided no comment as to the quality of the story combined with the illustrations and 2) graphic novels - are "comic books" for the lay person they aren't called that anymore because they it is obviously NOT FUNNY. Come on dinging the graphic novel because you didn't know what a graphic novel is, is your fault not the novels. Please review the novel next time.

It's actually pretty nice and accurately portrays the original text version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Addition to the Series as a Graphic Novel, September 13, 2011
By
This review is from: Witch & Wizard: Battle for Shadowland (Witch & Wizard (IDW Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
This is a story after the first book, Witch & Wizard. It is the continued story of two young adults, Whit and Wisty, and a group of other teenagers that are being hunted down by the New Order. This edition has Wisty, Whit, and Byron Swain breaking into the New Orders building and stealing a hard drive that has information that they need to have.

After learning what the New Order is up to, the teenagers break up into two groups. One is to go to the Shadowlands and recruit as many half-lights as possible while the other group is to find out about some devices that are being made.

I admit that I have not read the Witch & Wizard series yet so I didn't know what to expect. I recommend that you do so, it make everything easier to understand. From there, this is a short graphic novel, one edition. The artwork is standard graphic novel. I got this as an Adobe Digital Edition and tried to put it on my Nook. You are not going to be able to read this with the Nook or Kindle. I just read it off my computer.

In the end, I am interested in the rest of the story so I will be reading Witch & Wizard at some point and will probably get a subscription to the graphic novel. If you follow the series, I think this is a good way to add to it if you like graphic novels.

I received this free from netGalley in exchange for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anything by James Patterson is fantastic, September 4, 2011

I love James Patterson and every book of his that I've ever read. He is an author that is impossible to put down. I purchased these books for my sons and plan on reading them for myself because I love to read. I was hoping his children books would be just as good as the adult books. I recommend anything written by him!! Fantastic author!!
