4.0 out of 5 stars Some Music From TV Show Here...
I was kind of hoping this was the long-awaited soundtrack to the Witchblade TV series.
This is a mix of songs which appeared in the first and second seasons of TNT's "Witchblade," and other songs which were either inspired by the show, or just good-sounding enough to be here.
The CD doesn't bill itself as a soundtrack to the show. It's just...

1.0 out of 5 stars not much there
I have this series on tape and love watching it. I had hoped for a music CD, but this one lacks much of the best music from the show. There are no score pieces and due to its lack of Grant Lee Phillips "Cathain" - a center piece to the series - I wouldn't waist your money.

It's just "Witchblade: The Music."
But I still had hopes, and that's why I decided to order this CD from Edge Artists.
I don't remember all the songs from the show, so I found a listing of songs from the first and second seasons at BladeTV.com and tried to match them up with the songs on the CD to see what was what.
Fans of the show will instantly recognize the first track, G. Tom Mac's "Cry Little Sister."
It pumped up the adrenaline in the last episode of the first season.
The second song here, "Sarah" by Grant Lee Phillips, was in season one, episode six and season two, episodes 11 and 12.
The third, "Child of Mine" by Roger Daltry was in season one's finale. It was also in season two, episode eight.
I think the version on the CD, which features G. Tom Mac, was in the latter.
Not all of the songs featured in the series are on the list, and the list indicates that.
I can't remember any of the others being in the show, but that doesn't mean they weren't there.
There was a version of "Don't Fear the Reaper" in season one, episode four. But I think it was by Blue Oyster Cult.
On the CD, there's a version of the song by Accidental Tears.
There are four songs here by G. Tom Mac, and I think the reason why is Edge Artists is his label.
But his stuff isn't the worst. It's better than most of the stuff on here actually.
If you were listening to it just to listen to it, and not to pick it apart, you wouldn't mind this CD. It's inspiring, and at times easy on the ears.
This is second song compilation created to celebrate the world of the Witchblade.
The first was "Songs of the Witchblade: A Soundtrack to the Comic Books," released by Dreamworks in 1998.
Maybe this thing should have been billed as "Songs of the Witchblade Vol. 2" or something.
Hopefully down the road, a CD compilation will do justice to the TV show, which was filled with songs week after week.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some great songs, some bad remixes, October 21, 2004

Most of the songs are from the television series, which I miss, and I can picture the scenes and episodes as they play. "Cry Little Sister," "Sarah," and "Wicked Town" for example. However there are also others I didn't recognize and which frankly weren't very good. I think that Accidential Tears' remix of "Don't Fear the Reaper" is terrible and not at all what I remember from the series -- it should be intoxicating not chopped up and slower. I also really disliked the new version of "Child of Mine" -- what is wrong with the older version? Overall I can skip those I dislike and listen to the others over and over again so it was worth my money. Wish lyric had been included!

4.0 out of 5 stars ST inspired by the TV show, NOT from it..., July 4, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Witchblade the Music (Audio CD)
First a note: this is an inspired by CD very loosely based on the music from the Witchblade television show that lasted for two seasons. There is another CD of Witchblade inspired music that is more directed at character themes as compared to this compilation which is of general rock songs.

The CD starts off strong w/ a remix of Gerard McMann's "Cry Little Sister". As someone who searched the net for the remix found in the television show, I can say with almost certainty that this was not the remix from the show but the song itself is so powerful that it still works well. Grant Lee Phillips sings a more rock version of "Sarah" rather than the acoustic version from the show. "Child of Mine" by Roger Daltrey/G Tom Mac for me is the highlight of the CD- mixing the voice of classic rock god Daltry with modern dance and hiphop beats. This works exceedingly well. It was also a nice nod to Daltry as he was a guest on the show. Essence's "Dark Angel" is a moody piece but feels out of place with the rest of the CD. The remake of "Dont Fear the Reaper" will make anyone who has ever heard the original cry... and they arent tears of happiness. The rest of the songs keep the music flowing nicely shifting between alt-rock and rock-punk. The cD ends with "Was it Magic", a dance infused song that seems an odd choice to end the compilation on.

In all the CD is good if not great. I would recommend this to those who prefer non-mainstream rock or for those who are fans of Witchblade and its themes. Again, it is a nod to the show but a far cry from the wonderful selection of music that was played in it.

A great disapointment! There was a lot of great music in the series that I was hoping to hear that isn't in this cd. Most of these songs I don't remember hearing (and I watched it many times) so if they were there they were very short or in the second season (which wasn't as good musically). There are a couple of songs people have been dying to get - the remix of "Cry, Little Sister" and "Sarah" - that aren't available anywhere else but I don't think the versions on this album are the ones we wanted to hear.

I was not sure what I would come to expect when I bought the music as I like a little variety. This one works for me and has alot of music I've not heard before that seems to suite me in most of my moods. It's great for dancing around like a monkey or just having fun cleaning.

4.0 out of 5 stars G TOM MAC is at it again by putting together this collection, December 6, 2004
This review is from: Witchblade the Music (Audio CD)
First off, I must say Top Cow (the creators of Witchblade) thanks for keeping your never ending poise of
integrity, you have done it again in delivering Witchblade the Music! WOW! I
love this CD. I heard some of these songs in the first season of the T.V.
series and was wondering when there was ever going to be a soundtrack. "Cry
little Sister" by G Tom Mac is absolutely stellar, as is Roger Daltreys
"Child of mine". this is a far better soundtrack then I expected, even
though some of the songs I'd not heard before, they are great artists that
must have caught the ear of Top Cows creative team. Songs to listen for
"Sara" Grant Lee Phillips, "Greater Powers" G Tom Mac, "Wicked Town" One
Live Dog, "Built to survive" Suicidal Tendencies.
