Witchs' Night Out,
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
Like all the other fabulous books written by Silver this one ranks right up at the top. I recieved the book on Tuesday May. 2nd, and could not put it down till I was finished. It is both a Fantastic read and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is one of the best Fiction/Mystery Novels I have ever picked up.It blends Witchcraft and Mystery and puts you right there in the story. It is true what the Book conveys:"Night has fallen and Magick is afoot..." It is a must read for the Young and Old. Both thumbs up again to you Ms.Ravenwolf and keep up the Great work.

Witches Night Out,
By A Customer
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
How do I love Silver Ravenwolf as a writer? Let me count the ways, but this is not one of them. Silver should stick to what she knows. This book lacked depth and plot. Her book beneath a Mountain Moon should be caterogized in the same manner, after 60 pages or so, I had to put it down; I just lost interest. However, her how to books on Wicca for adults and teens alike are exceptional. Her Teen Kit for witches is fantastic, I just wish there was one for adults. I also wish she would write an autobiography of her life and how she became a witch--these are the things that Silver is best at--not fiction. L.J. Smith is the author to read for young adult fiction, it has intrigue, suspsense mystery all rolled into one. Silver Ravenwolf is a teacher--the best when it comes to the Craft, but as far as writing fiction--she should leave that to someone else and write what she knows!

Terrific new series debut!,
By Diana Tixier Herald "Genrefluent" (Leaping Lizard Ranch, CO United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
This first entry in a terrific new young adult series raises the standard for series fiction. The diverse characters, the mystery to solve, and the touch of occult make it enticing. Somewhat like Nancy Drew, Bethany Salem lives with an eccentric housekeeper in a nice large home while her father (a NYC detective) is kept busy working in the city. She drives a red Camaro and has a circle of friends with whom she just happens to practice witchcraft. The emphasis on working toward good is very subltly entwined making it uplifting while not preachy. RavenWolf is a fine storyteller with exquisite pacing. Highly recommended.

Somewhere on the way to the bank...,
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
Somewhere on the way to the bank, Silver has forgotten that Wicca is a Religion. She places much, too much emphasis on Spells and little on Religion. I am very concerned that the Coven in this book decided to call upon the Wild Hunt. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever consider calling upon the Wild Hunt. I think that Silver has had a serious lapse in judgement putting this into the story. I am sure that a few unsuspecting teens will attempt the same. If I was a 15 year old (I'm 38) and not Pagan, I would have probably loved the book. I read the book to see if I would want my 12 year old daughter to read it. I think I'll wait a few more years. I don't need her to get Silver's slightly distorted belief that the answer to every little problem in your life is to do a spell!

A Good Read,
By A Customer
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this book quite entertaining but it did leave out thereligious part of the Craft, except in the character Tillie. I couldwax ecstatic about the way a certain previous reviewer who wouldn't even give their name misinterpreted the cover badly, but I, unlike some people, am here to review the book. I do not feel that calling on the Wild Hunt is a good idea in any circumstance, however, if you have read the book and seen what happens when the characters do, you would have to be absolutely thick to do so. Back to reviewing, however. I feel this book is quite excellent for Witches who have been discriminated against (and I am one), making me realize I am much better off. Also, if you are not a Witch, it makes an interesting story. Oh, and to the person I mentioned earlier: It's not jail, and some people dress like that now unless you are from the eighteen hundreds you should not be surprised. I say, have you read the book at all?

Fun book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
I believe that this book was probably written for kids in my age group (I'm 15), so I thought I'd write my opinion! I really enjoyed this book- I couldn't put it down and ended up reading it in one evening- although I think that a lot of the things that the coven in the story does should NOT be considered as plausible actions for real teenagers to take. In other words, it's a FICTIONAL story, so don't take it too seriously.. just read it and enjoy it. Have some fun!

It's NOT a book of shadows, it's a work of FICTION,
By A Customer
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book in an afternoon- it's a compelling story and an easy read. I think teens will enjoy the story and thecliff-hanger chapter endings. I'm a public librarian and see Silver's books checked out every day and think this one will be no different! (And in response to an earlier review: Authors do NOT get to choose their covers. That is done by the PUBLISHER. Learn a little about the business before you pipe up and sound, well, uneducated. Secondly, this is a work of FICTION. Nowhere does Silver advocate that you or your loved ones run out and invoke the hounds of the wild hunt. I thought Silver handled that aspect very responsibly. )

A Great Read for Teens!,
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
Silver RavenWolf has done it again! She's one of those rarewriters that can make anything interesting. Like her fabulousnonfiction books, she's served up a helping of rich fare, certain to satisfy any reader- regardless of age. She's written another book, Under a Mountain Moon, which is for the more elderly of us (I'm 50, and enjoyed both.) If you want a good read, and have a yearn for Magick, Silver's books are super!

Wonder Witchy Silver Stirs up Imaginative Fiction,
By Keridwen (UAE) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Witches' Night Out (Mass Market Paperback)
I think the title says it all! I recieved the book a couple of days ago, and I thought it was fab! Apart from the storyline(which is what everybody has looked at) I think the use of language, tone of voice, character play et cetera, were all so wonderfully blended togther that the outcome certainly deserves 10 Witchie stars! (pity they aren't pentacles!). Well done Silver, darling. Good luck in your next book, and may the Great Mother and Father descend apon you the same passion that you bestow apon us in your books! |
