Nigel Jackson, born in 1963, lives in Manchester, England and is a well-known artist and illustrator specializing in the symbolism of Western Esoteric Tradition: he is deeply immersed in the traditional Tarot of 15th century Italy, the magical teachings of medieval-renaissance astrological magicians such as Ficino, Agrippa and Bruno and in bringing to life the talismanic images inherited from ancient sources of arcane lore such as the Arabian grimoire The Picatrix. He has worked intensively in researching the magical system of the 28 Mansions of the Moon. Nigel has been involved for the last quarter of a century in pursuing the inner wisdom of the hermetic mysteries and in expressing the symbolic 'language of the gods' through his visual art which he views as a living  'alchemy of the imagination'.

I really enjoy the witches runes.
a reader from Michigan
In reality this comprehensive book and vivid symbolic deck are grounded firmly in Anglo-Saxon runic traditions, the Drycraeft and Wiccedom of Old England.

The artwork is simply direct information to my soul and the wisdom is powerful as well as inspiring.

I am so, so infatuated with this set. I had attempted to read runes before, using a plain clay set, and had a great deal of trouble trying to acertain meanings from the lines alone. These beautiful cards work like the Tarot or Cartouche, unveiling the meanings through the symbolism and art to better understand the energies of each rune. The accompanying handbook is a gem, with background information on the Norse religion (including a great introduction to the Norse pantheon), information on each rune (symbolism, oracular meanings, and magickal workings), and some very good rituals, including one of the best circle-casting methods i've ever heard of. I highly reccomend this set to magickal people, or people just wanting to bring the power of the runes into their lives.

I really enjoy the witches runes. The guidebook is packed full of information on divination, history and magical uses for the runes. Good meditations and rituals too. I also recommend reading "Northern Mysteries and Magick" by Freya Aswynn(formerly "Leaves of Yggdrasil"). The runes are a wonderful way to explore the "mysteries", and incorporate an ancient system of knowledge into your life. This system has much to offer the modern practitioner! Blessed Be

This is the one deck no one else gets to touch! It has absorbed my vibes beautifully and the answers I get are right on target! It took a bit of time to get used to the artwork but I love it! The interpretations and correspondences are helpful and easily understood. A definite asset to my collection of tools!!

The previous review is not very accurate. In reality this comprehensive book and vivid symbolic deck are grounded firmly in Anglo-Saxon runic traditions, the Drycraeft and Wiccedom of Old England. Both authors have direct links with authentic currents of Teutonic folk-magic and present here a reliable and all-in-one exposition of High Runecraft within the context of Germanic Hexerei and Saxon Wiccedom. This is genuine Runic divination and Magic in a very accessible and authentic form - try it and see! Hail Woden and Freya!

There are so many good authors who are credentialed academics in areas of Germanic Studies, many of whom work with the runes, that I can't recommend going with authors who are just writing a book to capture a trend. If I wanted commercialized, watered-down, sanitized, American Eclectic Wicca, I'd look at Ravenwolf. When I want to read and contemplate the Runes, I buy a book from someone who knows what they are talking about. Better yet, I'll pick up the poems of the Elder Edda or the various Rune Poems. I will give them that it is at least far, far better researched than anything put out by Ralph Blum.

This deck is a mainstay in my 'reading' arsenal. It has served me astonishingly well over the years to the degree that I needed to purchase a second deck! I also hunted down a first-edition deck for my personnal collection! The artwork is simply direct information to my soul and the wisdom is powerful as well as inspiring.

if you can't SEETHE into it (and you can filter the dross, yours and the material's), then try to minimize your possibly negative comments. this is a suberb item, both book and deck. it opens the parameters in ways that thorsson and aswynn do in similar but albeit different ways...

odd in that it is one of those rare Llewellyn books that matter.

I had this set 10 years ago but they were stolen from me. I was shocked at how rare and expensive they now are. I hate to buy used but thats all I can afford. Will have to do some cleansing and work before I can use them but I am extremely happy to have a deck again.
