Wonderful Resource,
This review is from: Witches And Witch Hunts (Hardcover)
I used this book while writing an essay for my IB American History class, on the social causes for the Salem Witch Craze. I found this book very helpful, with very good information, and very easy to understand. Being wiccan, i also liked the last chapter of the book, explaining modern day witchcraft. This is a wonderful book.

I found this book by Meltzer very informative with a lot of great facts from history. Not only does he tell about many events in history of witch craft, but also shows how they are all connected together. Meltzer is a great author that potrays the way things should be seen at least in his eyes. The book is well formatted with end notes in each chapter and a bibliography at the end of the book. I would recommend this book to someone wanting to know the history aspect of the witch trials. I enjoyed this book throughly and I hope anyone else that reads it does too!

I think this book is great for anyone who is into witchcraft or just history. Just because it's a 9-12 reading level, doesn't mean it's not a good read.

This review is from: Witches and Witch-hunts (A History of Persecution) [Paperback] by Milton Meltzer (Paperback)
I thought that this book was very interesting and enlightening. Each chapter has a different story of a witch and their use of witchcraft, and how his or her trial was served. This book shows the torture witches (or people accused of using witchcraft) had to withstand, until they confessed. Even some children thought to have dealings with the devil were put to death. I learned a lot about witches and how unfair their trials were from reading this book; it was very informative. Anyone who is just wondering about witches, how they used witchcraft, or their trials, this book is exactly for you!

This history of witches and persecution examines not only the usual Salem trials, but witch-hunts from around the world and over the centuries. Milton Meltzer's probe into the truth behind the stories provides a wider-reaching account than most and enhances a recommended portrait of witch perceptions and prosecution around the world.
