3.0 out of 5 stars Panthers, Dragons, and the Witch Child
The Night World is all around us - a secret society of creatures of darkness. There are only two rules to the Night World - 1) Don't let a human find out about the Night World, 2) Never fall in love with one of them.

RAKSHA KELLER - A tough-as-nails panther shapeshifter whose name means 'demon'. Abandoned by her mother and considered a freak of nature in her foster...

This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
I've read all of the Night World books and I think that this is simply one of the best. I love Keller's no-nonsense attitude and tough exterior, yet she's got a sensitive side too. And Galen...he's really persistent it really snagged my heart everytime he said: "You're the one..." and how it was always so obvious that he was in love with Keller. Iliana seemed like such an airhead, but L.J. Smith really knows how to develope her characters and by the end of the book, I actually liked Iliana.

The poem that was left by Keller's mother really got stuck in my head.

People die...
Beauty fades...
Love changes...
And you will always be alone...
I'm sure lots of people have felt that way sometime or other.

I sure hope that Keller meets up with Jez and Rashel, I mean their all so good at their jobs, and they're such strong fighters. They'd be great together, with Nissa of course and Poppy to add that bit of witch influence. I'm wondering when I get to hear about all the characters from the previous books like Ash and Mary-Lynette, and Kestral and Rowan, and Thea and Blaise. And not to mention all the really hot guys, but when do I get to hear more about witch or 'shifter guys?

I hope the Night World series keeps going on, I could never get sick of the soulmate principle, there should just be more variety of things happening and we should see more of the earlier characters and new ones too of course, to add some spice. I can hardly wait 'til the next book comes out so I can rush to the stores to seek it out.

The Night World has all you could ask for strong willed girls, hot-yet-sometimes-cold-vampire boys and girls, witches with magic, and the wildness and variety of the 'shifters, danger, and......................Love...

In the quietness of the night-
we find a little of ourselves,
and we await the end-
in darkness or light.....

If anyone would like to talk about L.J. Smith books, the Night World, or even vampires (ie. Vampire: the Masquerade). e-mail me...and if you haven't already, you should definately READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Keller, Galen & Iliana and a Dragon, December 16, 1999
By

This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
This is one of the best Night World books on sale at the moment. Keller is a panther. Her latest mission is to try to find and protect the latest wild power who is a lost witch and a Harman at that. Everything is fine till Galen comes and Keller's world is thrown into chaos. Galen is destined to marry Iliana but keller is his soulmate . Just when everything seems to be complicated enough the Dragon comes and all hell breaks loose, literally. This is a really great book and a definate read for all you nightworld lovers! I can't wait for book 10 to come out it is called "Strange Fate" and is out in the U.S in September apparently....I can't wait! Lisa (Dublin, Ireland)

5.0 out of 5 stars FOR ALL WHO AWAIT STRANGE FATE!, November 17, 2002
This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
Ok here goes...
I am a DEDICATED L.J Smith fan so I have been looking all over for the info on Strange Fate the 10th (and supposedly last) Night World book in the series and I have FINALLY come up with the answer. This will probably be a little dissapointing (well actually alot) Strange Fate will not be published until Spring of 2003 and will not be shelves until very early 2004! Please don't kill the messenger just go to nightworld.net and see for yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars WITCHLIGHT---------ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER!, January 26, 2000
This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
All of the Night World books are good and Witchlight is no exception. Keller is a shapeshifter - a panther. She was adopted by Circle Daybreak after she was abandoned by her mother. Now a high school senior, Keller is a special bodyguard, along with Winnie, a witch, and Nissa, a vampire. Her latest assignment: to protect Iliana, a witch who doesn't know she's a witch, Iliana is also one of the four legendary Wild Powers. As Keller and her team begin to protect Iliana, problems occur. The first is Galen, the shapeshifter who is to marry Iliana, and the second is the Night World citizens who want to kill Iliana. As things continue, Keller finds herself falling for Galen- which would destroy the alliance between the witches and the shapeshifters. This book is great and if anyone has any info on the next book, STRANGE FATE, email me b/c I've been waiting for it for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars The series gets better and better, January 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
The Night World series is really getting good. Witchlight is one of the best books. I really like Keller, and I want to find out what happens with the wild powers. The problem is, we can't find out what happens to the wild powers until Strange Fate is published. Am I the only person who is completely frustrated?

4.0 out of 5 stars Where is Strange Fate, June 19, 2000
By

I liked this book very much, but i want to know... WHERE IS STRANGE FATE! The last thing I heard about it was last year around this time when L.J. herself wrote online here that she knew the book was late and was thankful that all her fans were very patient in waiting since '98 for the book to arrive. Then i heard that it was coming in November of last year but that also fell through. Where the heck is this book? I would like to read about the last Wild Power Kiernan and Sarah and her 'Matie Blade. Also what happened to the other Powers and Vampys, Witchies, and 'Shifters mentioned in the other books. I once saw the cover of the book (it was here on amazon) and it also gave the review(from where I got this info). Then it was like suddenly it disappeared from ever coming out. I would like someone to at least inform us where the book is and whats happened. P.S.-I read the book was only 225 pages long. If she was going to give us all the info on the Night World folk, shouldn't it be longer? All fans out there respond tho this message if have info. Thanx much for listening.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've ever read, June 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
Although i didn't think this was L.J.Smith's greatest book it was still very good. i really enjoyed the shapeshifter thing. Before we knew hardly anything about shapshifters, but now we have a whole history. Also, to all those people who think the soulmate principle is getting old-it's what the Night World books r all about. I think it's a wonderfully romantic idea kinda like love at first sight. Another thing-who doesn't like reading about beautiful people-would you rather read about ugly people-i wouldn't. In Black Dawn Maggie wasn't all that beautiful in fact she was very ordinary. It's how their soulmates sees them. Delos thought Maggie was the most beautiful girl on the face of the Earth, when you're in love, the person you're in love with always seems beautiful to you. i think that's what Smith is trying to show sometimes. Also, the werewolves have been made out to be pretty stupid, but in Soulmate Lupe was very intelligent. i liked her a lot. i hope Smith writes a book about werewolves that are smart like Lupe. Also, the thing about purple eyes being very rare in real life. The characters in these books with purple eyes are witches and how many witches do you know in real life? i would like to see more about previous characters in future books. She could have all the pairs of soulmates get together to fight the final battle or something. I can't wait for Strang Fate!

5.0 out of 5 stars strange fate info!!!!!, September 12, 2000
By
jacinda (San Diego, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
Okay, first let me say that Witchlight was really awesome. It wasn't as good as Huntress (because that plot was so great), or as The Chosen (because Quinn and Rashel were great fighters), or Daughters of Darkness (because, well.....Ash), but it was sooo worth five stars.

Now here's my Strange Fate news that I'm sure you're all dying to hear: I'm writing this on 9-12-00. Two Saturdays ago, I went to the bookstore and found out that Strange Fate was published only three days before I checked. It's not on the shelves yet, but you can order it at the bookstore chain nearest you. In exactly four more days (it takes 2/3 weeks to ship), I will know who Sarah Strange's soulmate is. I will know who the fourth Wild Power is and what happens. I hope you'll know too with the help of this little note that's totally off the subject of Witchlight. So, get off your computer and run to your car! Order the book! Hurry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful as usual, May 9, 2004
This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
This latest story set in the Night World is L.J. Smith at her best. Galen, the hero isn't the usual tough guy. He's kind and sweet without ever being wimpy. Keller and Iliana are amazing characters as well, even if Iliana does start a little ditzy. You (or at least I) can't help but care about the characters and hope that somehow everything works out at the end.

The back of the book is slightly misleading - Galen is NOT destined to be the Iliana's soulmate - he's destined to be her husband. As those familiar with the Night World know, that's a big difference. For those who aren't familiar with the Night World this book probably isn't the one to start with. If you don't want to start all with the first book in the series (Secret Vampire), which is also absolutely amazing, you might want to try Huntress (book 7)as that's the book where the concept of Wild Powers and the end of the world is first explained.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Best In the Series, November 4, 1999
This review is from: Witchlight Night World 9 (Paperback)
I think this was one of the best books I've read in the Night World series because it was the first one in the series about shapeshifters. At first, it made me wonder if Keller was half witch cause you know she HAS to be with Galen. It sort of kept me on edge, but the ending was twistedly cool! Like the Huntress. If anyone knows, will L.J. Smith write a Night World series on werewolves (Daughters of Darkness doesn't really count). N/e wayz, BOOK IS TOTALLY COOL. I CAN'T WAIT FOR STRANGE FATE!
