Book Description

Dylan Pendragon is not what she appears to be. She looks like a twenty something, hippy, new-age follower… When in fact she is a ninety year old witchling from one of the oldest families connected with witch craft.
She has yet to get any powers so to speak. But she is destined to be the most powerful witch of them all…
And she is a virgin.
Justice is a seven thousand years old Vampire. He is the oldest friend to his former king of their kind, Cormac O’ Heachthanna. There are three things that vampires love. Blood, fighting and sex and not necessarily in that order. Justice lost his wife about six thousand years ago so he has devoted his life to keeping man kind safe… and he has had no sex in that many years.
The Dark One has one thing on his mind. Capture Dylan Pendragon and take what he thinks is his… her virginity and her power which will blossom like a rose once she is taken. He will do anything to get her and that power or die trying.
In the course of one night under a full moon two become connected and set into motion events that can’t be stopped that will ultimately bring victory for some or one and the rest will be cast into a void less underworld.
Can Justice show Dylan he wants to protect her without touching her? Will he listen to his heart where love that has been dormant for so long is waiting to be released.
Will Dylan allow Justice to protect her so she can figure out how to get her powers and be strong enough to fight the Dark One? Or will she fall and be the sacrifice that the Dark One intends her to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchanting August 1, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The Witchling Grows Up Mary Moriarty
The Prologue reads like a short story all n it's self and I was absolutely enthralled as I read about this large powerful family made up of a demi-god and witches with great powers, Two amazing children, a boy 12 yrs older than his sister and the life they had for centuries until a new baby girl is born......and all hell breaks loose! .......And so it begins......
Will is left to raise his niece Rose with the help of cousins Emma & Molly and Molly's Mother, his Aunt Sadie. There is also a pack of cats and hounds ( familiars) which they can communicate with. So , Will moves everyone to London Town where he just bought a home. The first of many properties purchased over the years as his fortunes grew. He never settled down, but spent these passing years bent on revenge against those responsable for the loss of his mother & sister the night Rose was born. Now Rose is grown and she too give birth to a baby girl. Her name is Dylan. And as Will chanted his blessing over the baby, stardust fell from the ceiling, a whirlwind came and in it a dragon! Though no larger than a crow he will watch over Dylan all her life to make sure the darkness never overtakes her. The dragon tells them that Dylan is the one foretold who will bring all creatures together. I just love Tan, the little dragon, he has such fierce loyalty throughout this story and I couldn't help but laugh at some of his antics...So Dylan, is not a normal witch, she is immortal. She has a special mark ( like her mother did ).....By the time she is 90, she still looks like 20 yrs old! Right? How cool is that? But it's not all sunshine & roses, something very dark, very evil is brewing somewhere and it has it's sights set on Dylan and the unequaled power she will come into at her "time".

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding! August 7, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Pendragon Family: steadfast warriors and gifted witches. Perhaps the greatest witch of all, Dylan, just does not realize it yet. You see, it seems she will receive the majority of her powers, when (even though she has reached adult status decades ago) she "becomes a woman". Awesome, right? Not so fast. You see, The Dark One has set his sights on her and her powers. Now, before you get all hand wringy, she does have help on her side, including a dragon, a wolfhound, and, oh yeah, a hot babe of a vampire named Justice who has been celibate for <gasp> 5000 years! Only The Goddess knows for sure what will happen. This book will definitely have you biting your fingernails and have you hanging on the edge of your seat!

5.0 out of 5 stars A spell binding start to a new series. July 31, 2014
By Renee
Format:Kindle Edition
I was gifted this book by the author.

The Witchling Grows Up is a lead-in novella for a new series by Mary Moriarty and chronicles a brief history of the Pendragon family of witches and how they become connected with the O'Heachthanna vampire clan from her My Beloved Vampire series. The beginning of the story details the lineage of the witch, Dylan Pendragon, back to her great grandparents and leading up to how she came to the notice of Justice, one of the O’Heachthanna (My Beloved Vampire series) clans oldest, most loyal, and fiercest warriors.

The story picks up in present day as Justice arrives at Dylan’s home in Glastonbury Tor, Britian. He has been charged with Dylan’s protection from the ‘Dark One’ by the Goddess, who has also promised Dylan to Justice as his mate, thus uniting the vampires and the witches. Dylan is already being watched and protected by a cacophony of familiars who have been with her family for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Included in the menagerie is a fierce little dragon who has been charged with her protection from her birth and takes his job very seriously. Tan is a feisty little, fire breathing creature who sits upon her shoulder, follows her everywhere she goes, and does not care one tiny bit for Justice, which makes for some very lively dialogue between the two. The gist of the story is that the ‘Dark One’ must capture Dylan and rob her of her virginity in order to steal all of her powers and become nearly invincible. Justice will need to rescue her before the damage is done or Dylan will be lost forever in the underworld.

This book has captured my interest from page one, and has me anxiously waiting for the next book. Ms. Moriarty’s writing is imaginative, her characters are strong, yet vulnerable, and her storylines flow seamlessly, one into the other. This one gives us a bit more background into the world of vampires and witches and I cannot wait to read more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Prequel To The My Beloved Vampire Series!!! August 1, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This prequel to Mary's My Beloved Vampires series was simply amazing!!! I fell in love with the characters of Dylan and Justice, and their budding romance. Her dragon Tan is very protective, and the arguments between Tan and Justice are priceless. They made me laugh out loud. It was interesting how the witches and vampires came together, and helped each other when necessary. This is evident in her 3 Vampire series books. You could feel the frustration by Justice when sadly, Dylan is taken by the Dark One. I loved this, and can't wait until her next book. Mary is an amazing writer, and she takes her readers on a very unique journey. I love this about the books I read. I highly recommend this AND her vampire series...you won't be disappointed!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not my normal genre, but wait! August 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a story about a witch named Dylan and a vampire named Justice. I am normally not into vampire type of books, but this isn’t that type of story. The prologue sucked me in right away as we learn about Dylan’s ancestors and the dangers they face as witches. Dylan grows up and takes on her own business at a tea parlor and B&B - a place I wish I could visit! Dylan is protected by many animals as well as a dragon. Another protector of hers, is Justice. Moriarty presents wonderful, vivid descriptions of the setting and characters, as well as building suspense when a strange couple comes to stay at the B&B. Dylan and Justice both sense that this couple is Dylan’s dark enemy. This is a very well written book that put me in the mood for autumn, which is my favorite season. Even though this is not my normal genre to read, I find myself wanting to read the next installment in this series! Highly recommended!

More About the Author

I grew up in New England surrounded by a lot of history and story telling by my father who was from the Mid-Coast of Maine. What I remember of my mother was her love of fairy tales, the wee people and poetry. So it's no wonder I would one day write.
I actually started writing at a very young age, mostly poetry but I loved playing with words. I also loved books and before I even learned to read I would sit and pour over the books that had belonged to my mother. Works by writers such as Dante and Shakespeare filled the shelves. When I was about 6, I remember trying to read a first edition copy of Ivan Hoe that belonged to her.
Part of my life, I spent 11+ years living in Cambodia during a time when the Khmer Rouge were being ousted from power. Those 11+ years gave me a chance to grow, to appreciate my country more (good or bad) and to learn about this wonderful country that is about the size of Missouri. I am still learning the history of this great nation. My library keeps growing.
After traveling back in 2012/2013 and visiting the temples where my Kings Suryavarman II and Jayavarman VII lived, walked and ruled, I fell in love all over again. Then to sit in the shrine built at Preah Khan by Jayavarman VII for his wives, two sisters that were his queens that co-reigned with him I knew I would be back.

So fast forward to now. I am at my desk 7 days a week. I have to write like I have to breath. I have stories that come to me in the middle of the night or from something I read that just made that random thought come to the forefront of my brain. I love writing and bringing these stories to print and e-format so my readers can take a journey with me.
I am surrounded by my pets who sometimes show up in my books and my family who are very supportive of my writing.
Check me out at these sites, say hi. I always get back to my readers.

PS
When reading my books, you will see a progression of growth in skills as a writer. Just like everyone else, we all grow. A writer also grows and learns... My first book The Kings of Angkor is being re-issued by myself as I am now a self published author. That love story between two was not treated with the respect it deserved when published by my publisher. Since publishing that book I have grown... Do I know everything there is to publishing? No. I have published 5 other books now, all self published and in doing so I have learned the ropes very quickly and what needs to be done to get a book out there. It's a lot of hard work and with that I do for my readers. I don't say I am the best writer out there but I do love my stories and my readers.
If you are going to leave a review for any writer be gentle. They work very hard to get their baby out there.Ttake time to get to know your author too...
