Book Description

April 1, 2001
This title merges and illustrates Jungian concepts with the path of the witch to enable the reader to work with symbols both psycologically and magically. The subconscious often predicts outcomes before the waking mind can conceive them. This book teaches the reader how to understand the language of dreams through the interpretation of archetypes and how to cast a dream spell. The author also promises that the reader will meet their soul twin and dream lover.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Karri Allrich has a knack for making dream interpretation accessible while also coming across as highly intelligent and resourceful. Having studied dreams and archetypal symbols for over 25 years, Allrich is comfortable in this mysterious landscape, offering convincing interpretations of dreams and symbols. Although A Witches Book of Dreams is pegged as a book for witches, any woman interested in goddess spirituality should find it a friendly resource. "I do not subscribe to Sigmund's theory that snakes are merely phallic symbols and are always about sex," writes Allrich. "Sorry, darlings. I worship the goddess, and to Her, snakes are ancient wisdom and rebirth." One of Allrich's most compelling chapters is "The Importance of Shadow Work," which precedes a section about nightmares. She narrates a convincing argument for exploring one's own shadow side, so that it does not become a destructive force in witchcraft or in everyday life. From here, she enters the shadowy landscape of nightmares, where she helps readers see the supportive messages that lie within our fearful night imagery. The final half of the book is devoted to a dream dictionary, with brief passages about standard dream elements, such as a burglar ("fearing to face one's shadow"), horse ("instinct ... strength, power, and endurance"), wine ("...the spirit, the blood, the holy"). It also includes a chakra chart, bibliography, and index for easy referencing. --Gail Hudson

5.0 out of 5 stars A highly readable guide to understanding your dreams, April 15, 2001
By
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
With a natural gift for interpreting dreams, and a background of study in Jungian psychology, author Karri Allrich has crafted a highly readable guide to understanding the meaning and underlying truths of dream language.

She covers the concepts of the collective unconscious, archetypes, meeting the Shadow, animal dreams and finding your inner soul twin; what Carl Jung named the Anima/Animus. This is magick meeting myth, intuition embracing psychology. A unique blend of Jungian concepts and Witchiness.

Resources include her own extensive Witch's Dream Dictionary, (with very intuitive and insightful meanings) and the Witch's Tools of Association, Active Imagination and Automatic Writing. There are also helpful charts on Chakras, and Correspondences and how to follow these threads in your dream symbols. Tips on starting a dream journal and keeping track of symbols, themes and patterns are offered, as well as advice on crafting rituals from dreams, and starting up a Dream Circle (a group of dreamers meeting to discuss and learn about dreams and symbols). She also gives samples of actual dreams and their interpretations...which is really fascinating.

For all the information included, it's not an intimidating book. Karri makes the concepts easy to understand and throws in a dash of humor now and then. A book to keep by your bedside, next to your dream journal...Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a dream book that gets real, March 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
Often when I have picked up a book about dream interpretation, I become quickly disappointed. Not with this one! The author effectively describes how to analyze dreams - by explaining complicated Jungian theory in everyday words. The book contains actual dream examples - that the author breaks down herself; I found this to be a fantastic way to follow her teachings. The dictionary is suberb, finally one that is of real practical use. If you are fascinated by your dreams, get this book! It will help you to truly understand dream interpretation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Review by Echoed Voices Magazine, October 2, 2001
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
Artist and Author Karri Ann Allrich has enriched us all with,
"A Witches Book of Dreams."
For anyone, who has ever feared or questioned a dream, this is the book for you. I have never seen a book with such an extensive "Dream Dictionary" in it as this one.

Karri enlightens the reader with easy to read samples and explanations. She doesn't dictate with her book but instead encourages the reader to open up their mind, awaken their spirit and think for themselves, to decipher their own dreams in their own way.

Once this is accomplished, the answers are all there. She brings the wisdom of Jung, and the spiritual of Goddess. With this combination you couldn't go wrong.

Karri Allrich has filled the void in the pagan market with subject matter and viewpoint. For all who dream, "A Witches Book of Dreams" is a must have!
