A highly readable guide to understanding your dreams,
By "blackwing60" (Amherst, Mass.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
With a natural gift for interpreting dreams, and a background of study in Jungian psychology, author Karri Allrich has crafted a highly readable guide to understanding the meaning and underlying truths of dream language. She covers the concepts of the collective unconscious, archetypes, meeting the Shadow, animal dreams and finding your inner soul twin; what Carl Jung named the Anima/Animus. This is magick meeting myth, intuition embracing psychology. A unique blend of Jungian concepts and Witchiness. Resources include her own extensive Witch's Dream Dictionary, (with very intuitive and insightful meanings) and the Witch's Tools of Association, Active Imagination and Automatic Writing. There are also helpful charts on Chakras, and Correspondences and how to follow these threads in your dream symbols. Tips on starting a dream journal and keeping track of symbols, themes and patterns are offered, as well as advice on crafting rituals from dreams, and starting up a Dream Circle (a group of dreamers meeting to discuss and learn about dreams and symbols). She also gives samples of actual dreams and their interpretations...which is really fascinating. For all the information included, it's not an intimidating book. Karri makes the concepts easy to understand and throws in a dash of humor now and then. A book to keep by your bedside, next to your dream journal...Highly recommended.

Finally, a dream book that gets real,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
Often when I have picked up a book about dream interpretation, I become quickly disappointed. Not with this one! The author effectively describes how to analyze dreams - by explaining complicated Jungian theory in everyday words. The book contains actual dream examples - that the author breaks down herself; I found this to be a fantastic way to follow her teachings. The dictionary is suberb, finally one that is of real practical use. If you are fascinated by your dreams, get this book! It will help you to truly understand dream interpretation.

Book Review by Echoed Voices Magazine,
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
Artist and Author Karri Ann Allrich has enriched us all with,"A Witches Book of Dreams." For anyone, who has ever feared or questioned a dream, this is the book for you. I have never seen a book with such an extensive "Dream Dictionary" in it as this one. Karri enlightens the reader with easy to read samples and explanations. She doesn't dictate with her book but instead encourages the reader to open up their mind, awaken their spirit and think for themselves, to decipher their own dreams in their own way. Once this is accomplished, the answers are all there. She brings the wisdom of Jung, and the spiritual of Goddess. With this combination you couldn't go wrong. Karri Allrich has filled the void in the pagan market with subject matter and viewpoint. For all who dream, "A Witches Book of Dreams" is a must have!

Finally, a witchy woman point of view,
By Avid Reader "Joe" (Portsmouth, NH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
I first became acquainted with Karri through her paintings. I actually did not know she was a witch....nor did she know I was a witch. I love her cookbook too.But the very best, simply the best was finding this book [okay, it isn't quite as lovely as staring at the painting]. Finally, a perspective on dreams that is witchy and female. Now what is different from the other dream books? Well, for one I have found the male oriented ones to be highly directive. They tell you what the symbol in YOUR dream means, they don't ask you what it means to YOU. This book however, to me, is a female way of going about figuring out your dreams. Here is the symbol. Here is what it could mean. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to find out what it means to YOU. That's whats different. That and it is pure witch. The lady knows her craft, and she knows how to very clearly, very simply help you figure out your dreams. A must have for any witchy woman.

Fly me to the moon,
By D D Somers "silverduff" (Sarasota, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
Fly me to the moon, for this enlightening book on dreams is not for witches, only. I was drawn to the inviting cover of the maiden on the moon, but it was the contents that turned my nocturnal flights of dreamtime into a reality of power and understanding of me. Just a truth seeker am I, always working to improve my daily life and living to the fullest. Karri Allrich's "A Witch's Book of Dreams" has given me insight into all the lessons I can learn from examining and interpreting my dreams. As suggested, I started my dream journal immediately, and rereading its contents with the help of Allrich's dream dictionary, and her explanations of archtypes, symbols, and shadow work, has given me a new perspective of my life, past and present...and future. Buy this book. It will enable you to become that whole person you've always dreamed of!

This lady knows her stuff!,
By Boudica (Ohio USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
Having read Karri's book "Recipes from a Vegetarian Goddess", I was surprised to find out that she was well versed in dream and symbology. She has studied the Jungian and magical aspects of dreams and their symbols for over twenty-five years, and this book is the collection of all that she has studied and learned. Karri starts with the basic explanation of what dreaming is, how we dream and when we dream. From there she takes a look at the studies of Carl Jung in relation to dreams and their roots in ancient wisdom's. She examines archetypes and how they relate on many levels to ourselves and our lives. She also explains symbols, which is one of the best features of this book, the dictionary of symbols and their meanings. She gives broad overviews to general symbols and the dictionary gives some very workable explanations to these exact symbols. She also discusses the importance of writing down our dreams, using dream tools and of working with our dreams in shadow work. We have heard of or explored our familiars in our everyday workings, shadow work is what happens when we fall asleep at night. We have our own shadows with us when we walk the dream worlds and we can learn to work with these shadows and help improve our lives or solve our every day problems. Karri discusses working with the moon in dreams, using dreams to heal, and doing group Dream Circles. Karri has lead Dream Circles and shares her experiences so that we might explore the potential for Dream Circles in our own lives. If your interest is Dreams, and you are looking for some new perspectives on dreams and dreaming, this book would be an interesting addition to your collection.

a rare find,
By Elen Hawke "Elenhawke" (Oxford UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
There are many books about dream analysis, some good and some awful, but this is the first one I have found which is written especially for witches. And it's an excellent book at that. Karri Allrich's understanding and use of Jungian analysis is very relevant to witchcraft, for both draw on the collective unconscious and the power of the imagination. Her explanation of archetypal roles, especially seen through media figures, is powerful and relevant, but without being obscure or over intellectualised...in fact the whole book speaks in beautiful and accessible terms which inspire and uplift. The tools for enhancing dream work are useful too, and the dream dictionary is first class. How wonderful, for example, to find a meaning for snakes which doesn't involve Freudian phallic imagery. I loved this book, and i shall be keeping it for reference for many years to come.(...)

A Witch's Book of Dreams,
By Doris Stowell (Rensselaer Falls, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
This is a gem of a book, before now those following a nature religion had to make do with dream symbols that were relevant only to christian theology. Finally a book that focuses on the Goddess.

A great find,

This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
As someone who had a) never been able to remember his dreams, and b) never ascribed any importance or meaning to them, I was delighted to come across A Witches Book of Dreams. In her book, Ms. Allrich offers amazingly simple methods to help us remember dreams; convincing evidence that dreams are messages from our subconscious, clues and symbols that, when deciphered, allow us to better understand - and change - our behavior and therefore our lives; and a fascinating dream dictionary that serves as a flexible (rather than iron-clad) guide that enables us to translate the secret language of dreams. If you're a skeptic (as I was), read any of the dreams that Ms. Allrich relates and then interprets in a clear, compelling and insightful way, and I guarantee you'll be a convert! Highly recommended for anyone who is interested in developing a deeper, clearer understanding of him/herself - or who is just plain fascinated with dreams.

Very insightful!,

This review is from: A Witch's Book of Dreams: Understanding the Power of Dreams and Symbols (Paperback)
This is more than a dream dictionary -- while there is an excellent dream dictionary towards the end of the book, for me the more interesting and unique contribution of this book to my understanding of my dreams is the wonderful exploration of the role of archetypes, as well as sections on various different types of dreams (e.g., dreams about animals, dreams about family, nightmares, etc.).I look forward to a much enhanced understanding of my dreams! |
