The Powerhouse of Prosperity Magick,
By Capricorn "Capricorn" (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Witch's Coin: Prosperity and Money Magick (Paperback)
Wise witches know that the key to magickal success is a well thought out magickal working followed by real world action. In the Witch's Coin Penczak provides detailed avenues for both parts.
Importantly, as usual, Penczak addresses the theory behind the workings and not simply a cookbook. An entire chapter is devoted to Poverty Consciousness and how to over come the mindset of Poverty Consciousness and develop a realistic sense of Prosperity Consciousness. Penczak's approach doesn't require you to take on an unrealistic level of optimism and he acknowledges the natural ebbs and flows of natural cycles, including that of prosperity. However, he teaches you how to have a more balanced and beneficial outlook. Penczak includes an extremely useful and accessible chapter on timing and location. His break down of the pertinent prosperity related astrological information is digestible even for those whose strong suit does not lie in the realm of astrology. The author does indeed include various correspondences of herbs, stones, and even deities related to prosperity. Also included are the requisite spells to try out. However, even more importantly he includes a chapter entitled, "Credit in the Real World" at the end of his book. If you haven't guessed it, he gives extremely practical and down to earth mundane financial advice you can use to follow up and supplement your magick with real world action. This should be on every witches shelf. As far as money/prosperity magick books go, this one is the prosperity powerhouse.

Substantial book: Here's where it could be better,

The book is 250 pages and quite substantial. The problem is that everything but the kitchen sink (maybe even the kitchen sink) is included, making it too general. There are many books out there on chakras and feng shui, and I felt that such information need not be included in it. I got the book the same day as Lon Milo DuQuette's "My Life with the Spirits." which was excellent. My suggestion to the author, would be to add more stories on his own experiences and specifically how he had helped his clients. What worked and what did not work, or backfired.

Money Magick,

This is one of the best books on magic and money that I have ever read. It covers a lot of ground by starting off in the area of most importance, our consciousness. Many people suffer from poverty consciousness and the only remedy for that is to develop prosperity consciousness. Mr Penczak takes us on a literal journey that embraces exercises, meditations and embracing and changing our self image. I have copied lots of stuff from this book and put it in my book of shadows. What is exactly is prosperity and what is abundance? are the two the same? According to the author definitely not. Prosperity is having everything that we want and need along with the ability to accomplish what we set out to do. Abundance means just having plenty of something. Abundance does not address fulfillment or satisfaction. Often times our biggest obstacle to prosperity is our mindset. Is the world rich and abundant or is the world limited in resources. The magical mindset strives to be in balance between the two. Often times our ability to earn wealth is affected by our self image or how we see ourselves. If we have a negative image that means we are tapping into a negative archetype. Such negative archetypes include, the starving student, the artist, the miser or the gambler just to name a few. What we want to do is to adapt a more positive image of ourselves and tap into the energy of a more positive archetype. To change our consciousness we need to work with our seven chakras. In the book there are descriptions of the chakras and accompanying exercises to go along with them. These include gratitude and goal lists, getting rid of stale energy, self image work etc. After this section the author discusses Karma and true will. Basically we are provided with what we need to carry out or true will which is development of the soul. Being poverty stricken is not a sign of spirituality. You cannot be spiritual if you are starving on the street. To help with wealth the book also tells us that nothing comes for free that there is a price. If you want success there are no shortcuts you have to put in the work and the effort. If someone does you a favor you have to be prepared to return the favor. To address the magical aspect of prosperity you must first clear away the negative this could range from rituals used to banish negativity and uncrossing rituals for someones hex. The book has a very thorough list of Deities, herbs and stones that will assist you on your path to prosperity. THE BOOK CONTAINS recipes and many freestyle rituals to help you. The final part of the book talks about ethics of making money for your magical services. After all if you are providing a service like a doctor does should you not be paid for it. The author brings in wisdom from many different sources including Astrology and Feng Shui. Don't check this book out from the library...buy it.

If your having money issues, like many people are, and want some magical advice this is the book for you. Great ideas, spells, potions, and other ideas. However, this is another "formula" style book that we have seen before. If you are looking for spells and formulas, it's great- if your sick of the ten thousand formula books on the market then keep moving.

Is This The "Eat Me" version of Prosperity Consciousness? Too Easily Grown Out Of!,
This review is from: The Witch's Coin: Prosperity and Money Magick (Paperback)
For those Pagans who are completely new to the ideas currently running through popular spiritual culture--whether on Oprah's booklist or not--this book is a fantastic way to get psyched about learning how to think differently about money.
For those who have already encountered "The Secret" and other similar books/DVDs on the Law of Attraction and quantum thought (such as "What the Bleep Do We Know?!"), this book might feel a bit like deja vu all over again. I bought this book because I wanted to know Penczak's take on the whole idea of prosperity and abundance consciousness, not to mention get ideas for my own prosperity spells. I read it through once and, after some self-coaching on this whole topic, "The Witch's Coin" has ended up sitting on my shelf. I felt like Alice after eating quite a bit of that "eat me" cake: too big to fit through that itty-bitty door in the wall--reserved for total newbies. Get the book if you're a newbie. Pass it over if you've flipped through the contents here or at the bookstore and feel like you know the ideas, but you simply need practice. Yes, spells will help you practice, sure. But what will you do when all the spells in the book have been tried and you're hungry for more? Overall, I was looking for something of a chance to stretch my metaphysical muscles and get a psychic workout. I barely broke a sweat reading it. :P I think I shall have better luck working with Penczak's original "Temple" material and working with that to suit my own ways. :P

Penczak would make a good high school teacher. The book is clearly presented without any kind of scammy sensationalism, and also without anything original to Penczak. The problem is, I get the impression Penczak himself doesn't really believe in any of these techniques--and if Citibank will not hear your invocation, why on earth would you suppose Pluto and Proserpina will? If you are short on coin, for heaven's sake, don't spend it on this book! If you would like an amusing read through fantasy material, go ahead, waste time and money. But don't expect anything other than the ebook equivalent of watching an episode of Charmed.
