A deliciously spooky tale,
By A Customer
This review is from: Witch's Sister (Paperback)
A house with dark shadows and bad energy, on top of a windswept hill ... an old lady who, at first, seems like a kindly grandma but perhaps is more of a sinister figure ... a young girl who watches with growing concern as her older sister acts more and more strangely after spending increasing amounts of time in the old lady's house on top of the hill ... what a well-written, spooky tale (the ending is especially thrilling)! And luckily for readers, this is the first in a series of books about this brave young girl's battle with evil. Too bad it's not available right now -- this is a classic book that all kids AND adults would enjoy reading.

One of my favorite childhood memories,
By debeehr "debeehr" (Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Witch's Sister (Paperback)
This book and its two sequels were some of my favorite books when I was a kid, although the third one--THE WITCH HERSELF--was not as good as the first two. This is a convincingly creepy book, and what makes it especially good is that the author is very careful not to show anything that definitely proves that Judith and Mrs. Tuggle can do magic, thus leaving the question open as to whether Lynn and Mouse are imagining things. The friendship between Lynn and Mouse is well-drawn, and the author does a good job of integrating the supernatural plot in with everyday happenings of Lynn and Mouse's life.

One of the best witch books ever...,
By Dale Hrabi (New York, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Witch's Sister (Hardcover)
I think it's kind of sad that this author has fallen prey to the trap of writing SERIES books like the Alice series. This is one of her older books, and although it has a few sequels, it is one-of-a-kind and does not have that "first of a series" production-line quality that has ruined children's literature. Highly original, truly scary, richly evocative...a wonderful justaposition of creepy magic and mundane suburbia. A modern classic of sorts.

I am 36 years old and I remembered reading these books when I was young and loved them but I couldn't remember the titles. Upon searching I found excerpts that I remembered. I think it says a lot about how enjoyable they must have been for me to remeber the text after all these years. I know have a 6 year old daughter who loves scary stories. I am purchasing them for her to read.

Witch's Sister Series,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Witch's Sister (Paperback)
Witch's Sister immedietly caught my attention in about the middle of the book. It's literally disturbing in some parts. This book pulls you into it word by word and I believe I've read it almost 3 times. I have enjoyed the entire series and I wish there would be a 5th book.

wonderful and scary!!,

This was my favorite book as a kid, along with the other 2 or 3 in the same series. I am trying to find it to save for my daughter, now that it's out of print! It's pretty scary -- definite nightmare material. Old Mrs. Tuggle is as memorable a force of evil as anything Stephen King can come up with. I recommend for the not-so-faint of heart kids!

I first read this book when I was in third grade. Now I am in high school and it remains one of my favorite books. I read it over and over again. These books are perfect for younger kids. The rest of the witch books by phyllis reynolds naylor are just as good and have more adventures with Mouse and Lynn fighting against Ms.Tuggle.

I read this book every summer while I was growing up, probably about ten times. It got better each time. This was my first introduction into horror stories, and I'm still reading them.

I love this book. I started reading this book after I checked it out from the library and I couldn't stop reading it until I finished it. Even though it gave me the creeps it's still a great book.
