More About the Author

As a reader, my first love was science-fiction and fantasy, but then I discovered the romance genre. Now I enjoy blending the two, writing romantic fiction with an otherworldly twist. I bring a diverse background to my stories, including experience as an investigator with the Western Society for Paranormal Research.

I live with my husband in the desert southwest where we have a back yard that's regularly visited by hawks, bobcats, lizards, and quail, while the coyotes sing to us from beyond the fence.

WHTH is a delicious tale, beautifully rendered and hotly sensual, set in a lushly romantic era long past, yet ever beckoning--as does the world of faerie.

Elise is entirely believable, bringing to mind those intrepid Victorians ladies who traveled widely abroad and had a penchant for tromping about field and stream, sketching materials in hand, to record England's countryside and all its changing seasons. Elise contrives to venture out alone on her cousin's property, but the property ends where two worlds meet--that of her reality and of faerie. It is a place of light and shadow, of sublime happiness and ancient sorrow.

Elise has pushed convention and now tastes the forbidden, risking all as she gives herself to her otherworldly lover--gorgeous to be sure, but with a darkness that binds him.

There is so much that is wonderful in this story, but I'm especially appreciative of the layering of themes and emotions that takes the reader deeper and delivers a satisfying ending. The author is skillful at her craft and deft with her words. This enchanting and sizzling tale definitely deserves 5 Stars!

I read a lot of fantasy, sci-fi, and paranormal fiction, so I recognise when a writer knows her business. Robertson has the chops. Insightful characterization, unusual twists on the old myths of the daemon lover crossed with beauty and the beast, and a surprise ending. Her deft pacing is right on, too. Just when the sexxoring is starting to verge on repetitious, she switches gears. The reader never has a chance to disengage and become bored. My only complaint is that I wish she had not stopped. This reads like part of a longer story. A longer story I want to read. I want to know how Elise and Sheehan came to be the way they are, and I want to know what happens after the story stops. Here's hoping there's a sequel and a prequel in the works.

This is a beautifully told paranormal love story with overtones of Beauty and the Beast. Loved every word! Lush and romantic, the story is not without its sorrows and obstacles for the lovers to overcome. But the couple do get their happily ever after in the end.

Elise is the type of heroine we can all relate to and admire. Headstrong and certainly a non conformist for that time period, Elise is unwilling to pursue a life she knows will leave her unfulfilled. Instead, she follows her bliss, losing herself in Flora's paradise. Her decision not to settle for a dull and gray life ultimately bring her to her heart's desire. The hero is just as wonderfully drawn, tortured and wary, he seems irredeemable at first glance. This is due mostly to his past, his own choices, and his stubborn refusal to open his heart. But love has a way of shaking your heart loose from where it has gotten wedged and carrying you downstream anyway. That's exactly what happens to our tortured hero . . . Elise's love changes him, allows him to hope, and finally to embrace love again.

Ms. Robertson has created a lush landscape, a combination of Victorian countryside and Faery glen, for her lovers to play in. Her characters are believable and I related very easily to Elise's predicament and emotions. This love story delivers both charm and sexy heat as Elise experiences a sensual awakening. This story delivers what I think we all love in a good romance: the strength of heart and the will to overcome your fears and claim the life and the love you know you deserve. A beautiful and satisfying romance!

This was too short and left me wanting more. It told the entire story, but I enjoyed it so much that I wanted more.

This was a great read if you have a few minutes to spare. It has a clear beginning middle and end to the story which is sometimes hard to come by with these short stories. I truly enjoyed it and wished it was longer. It was mystical, sexy and enjoyable all in one.

I picked this up as a free ebook and I'm so glad I do. It's difficult to write such a captivating, whimsical story in such a few pages but the author pulled it off. It was a steamy, magical romance and I highly recommend it.

For me this is not a love story. It is the story of Elise, a spinster w/ no experience of men and Garth, a man who lost the love of his life and their daughter. The meet when Elise tricks her family into allowing her to spend 5 days in the forest to study and draw the local flora and fauna.

When they meet it is instant attraction the descends into a passionate obsession. It is a story of a woman who loses herself in a man she just meets.

I have read the other reviews and I realize several see this as a love at first sight type of story. I can't. To me from the first moment she touched Garth, I expected horns to appear (they don't). This story actually filled me with a bit of dread. The sex scenes read of desperation not truly of a loving or even a liking passion.

So while it was not the little romantic story I was expecting and hoping for. It was well written. It just didn't produce the emotions that the author was trying for.
