While Jillian Foster is vacationing with her parents in Florida, she meets Robert Jarrett, a young and aspiring writer. In just a few days, the two teens become very close. When Jillian returns to South Carolina from vacationing, Robert doesnt hear from her again. Almost twenty-five years later, Robert comes across a rose that Jillian had given him the night he last saw her. Although withered, the rose sparks Roberts interest to locate Jillian. When the two finally meet, Jillian explains why she avoided Robert all these years. Currently, Robert is a best-selling author and college professor. He has conquered several obstacles in his life, but he is soon faced with his greatest challenge. Robert learns that the only love of his life has been battling Huntingtons Disease for most of her life. Jillian was married once. The marriage was brief, but resulted in the birth of one daughter, Kim. Since Huntingtons is hereditary, Jillian is terrified that her daughter will go through the same horrible ordeals that she has gone through. With the disease progressing, Jillian becomes noticeably different to Robert. Robert decides to take on the challenges, as well as become a father figure for Kim. As Robert enters the lives of Jillian and Kim, Kim doesnt show any signs of the dreaded disease. Will Kim remain free of Huntingtons and be able to live a normal life? All three are optimistic. At first Jillian is reluctant to let Robert back into her life. Now, she cant think of being without him. Likewise, Robert is finally with the woman he has loved for most of his life. Robert struggles to understand the disease and deals with the anguish HD victims and their families endure. Will this prove to be too much for Robert to undertake? Only time will tell.
