1.0 out of 5 stars Concerned
My husband (a pastor, and now my 'former' ) and I read this book when we were young, with young children. The author is sincere, but sincerely mis-led. It led us down a path I deeply regret. I earnestly ask prospective readers to keep looking for a book on child rearing. One cannot 'un-do' the efforts of early parenting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the Popular Parenting Method but the Biblical One, September 17, 2008

Everywhere you turn today practically you hear the message "do NOT spank" and "spanking leads to violence," etc. etc. Abuse leads to violence, but Biblical spanking/discipline does not. This book helps explain what the Bible actually says about discipline and spanking. It helps explain why children behave the way they do and what our responsibility as parents is in disciplining our children. As with all books, read with discernment and always keep the Bible as the ultimate authority not man's experience/opinion/advice.

3.0 out of 5 stars 1st generation "biblical child training" book, December 15, 2005
This review is from: Withhold Not Correction (Paperback)
Bruce Ray was a Baptist Pastor who wrote this book several years ago. It is particularly wooden in its approach to discipline. Books by the Tripp brothers are far superior.
This is one parents should pass on.
