MASTERPIECE,
By "markus86" (texas) - See all my reviews

Fear the Clown is a very talented band. They play with just three people which makes it feel even better. The energy in the album is amazing and the vocals fit perfect with the beats. It can turn from melodic to heavy in the blink of an eye. Clearly a band to keep your eye on.

Went to High School with these guys, was very surprised to see they put out a album. To bad I wont be hearing anymore from them as they have broken up.

It's agood album for a new band, even though they have released a few cd's before this. It sound melodic and heavy here and there. Great job, FTC.

Musically this album is GREAT! Soft to heavy, very catchy, nice builds. Quite pleasing. Vocally, i don't see what the the hudge disappoinment is. The fact that it's not cookie monster growl or Godsmack yarls was quite refreshing. They are clean, atmospheric, turning to the very occasional growl-yell. After awhile it does start to sound a bit monotone, but nothing like the atrocities spokens here. As a BONUS there is a great eighties remake on here. I used to think Disturbed did the best eighties cover with "Shout." Marilyn Manson would be jealous of Lollipop Lust Kill's "Personal Jesus," which they did first i might add. Wait until you hear FEAR THE CLOWN cover Duran Duran's "Come Undone." On a side note think of the junk all on the radio and how much they charge you for it. You can get this brand new for under $5. I'm suprised Amazon hasn't put Hastings, FYE, etc. out of business yet!

What did I mean by that exactly? I meant the reverb itself. Yes, the vocalist does use it all throughout the cd, and pretty much hangs onto every sentence...but, given the atmosphere of the music itself, it actually works out quite well. It might take a bit to get used to, and you may not actually like it on the first listen...but listen to...at least "Iceboat" "Inside The Memories" and their awesome remake of Duran Duran's song "Come Undone," and soon enough you may understand what I mean. Funny enough...speaking of Duran Duran, I consider these guys to be a nu-metal version of Duran Duran. Picture that. And no, its not because they covered a song by Duran Duran...I did not even know they did until I bought the cd...and at the time the only song I had heard was "Iceboat" off of a music channel. That song was reason enough for me to check these guys out, and while it is not my #1 favorite ("Inside The Memories" is)...it is a kickass opening song to a very awesome album by a talented, yet unfortunately short-lived band. This is the only release they ever made...and probably ever will make.
Many reviewers have complained about the reverb like I said...all I can say is go to their myspace website (I can't actually tell you the name because the communists at amazon will delete it) and check them out for yourself:) Note: Nevermind the "unhelpful" vote, it's just by someone who has yet to get laid so they are mad at the world.

FEAR THE VOCALS,
By A.D. (BW, Ca USA) - See all my reviews

Just another band tarnished by the vocals. The music deserves 4 stars. They are great at setting moods and creating good riffs, but the vocals are terrible. The singer has one gear. In every song he aimlessly wanders with ridiculous amounts of reverb and delay. With a singer, they could have something.

They need more time,

Not bad, but the singer needs some help. He wrecks what ever chance this cd had. He can seem to move onto the next word. He is always hanging on his songs. The music is great. If they would change there singer it would be a great album but I can't stand someone that takes a minute just to sing the word "today".

HAHA!,

HAHA! Two words: NO REVERB! Damn, I mean a little here and there is just fine, but come on guys, please. If you enjoy over processed nu-metal that sounds ironically generic, pick this up. But if you are looking for something unique and want to take a chance, skip this one my friend.
