3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting
While I find that Rebecca Springer's "dream" of heaven very uplifting, there are too many scriptural flaws to believe it was an actual experience. In light of that, I still enjoyed reading the book and didn't want to put it down until I was finished.

5.0 out of 5 stars extremely comforting when you lose a loved one, January 22, 1999

This review is from: Within Heaven's Gates (Originally Entitled Intra Muros) (Paperback)
This book is about the author's out of body experience and visit to heaven. I found it to be basically scriptural. There were a couple things I questioned but she herself wrote that she was writing from memory.

I have just lost my 13 yr. old granddaughter and the book was so very comforting as it told of the great love of God and written with an anointing that lets you feel God's love. It describes the Glory of God and the wonder of Heaven.

This book also confirms that we will, indeed see our loved ones who are in Heaven again. (providing they are born again and in heaven).

Many people I know who have read this book, including myself found it difficult to put it down. I found it to hold my interest and I was able to visualize myself right there with the author in Heaven.

I would recomment this to anyone. Especially to those who have lost a loved one.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Dream Of Heaven, January 29, 2003

Five years ago I lost my mother and my father on the same day due to heart attacks within 15 minutes of each other. Two years ago I lost my 30 year old son in an auto accident. This book is the best book I have ever read other than the Bible itself. I believe that dreams and visions can be sent by God to comfort you in times of grief. This book was such an eye opener for me.
It allows you to visualize Heaven with new meaning and comfort.
I have found so much comfort in this book. I don't know why so many people are afraid to die when Heaven sounds better to me every day of my life. I would recommend it to anyone even if they have not experienced a close death dear to their heart.
I absolutely loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knock and it will be opened. Heaven in the purist sense, August 4, 2003
By
This review is from: Within Heaven's Gates (Originally Entitled Intra Muros) (Paperback)
Formerly titled "Intra Muros"

One of the first accounts of near death experience written by Rebecca Springer and published by David C. Cook in 1898.

I was fortunate to find this book at a yard sale and almost didn't take the time to look inside, since I couldn't translate the title. What a gem and so well written with wonderful detail of Ms Springer's visions on the other side of the veil.

During a very severe illness, Rebecca found herself alone with no one at her side and needing comfort turned to Jesus. Jesus was at her side and led her to the "promised land" where she was taken to visit relatives and friends who had passed over.

Her description of several "mansions" that have been prepared for the newly departed is very comforting and one realizes that we are just a "heartbeat" away from the other side.

The "refreshing water" from the lake where one is renewed and refreshed after passing over is very illuminating.

The various duties that one is given like helping those who are coming over and the "reunion" scenes are very enlightening.

Having had a near death experience in 1974, I can testify that this is "real" and very much in harmony with my own experiences.

I no longer fear death and was able to review my life and come to the understanding that "love" is the answer to living. Giving and receiving love and Jesus is here to love us unconditionally and to accept us in all our humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comforting, to say the least, January 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Within Heaven's Gates (Originally Entitled Intra Muros) (Paperback)
This little book was given to me by my Pastor, when I confided in him concerning my ultimate fear, 'death'. I was both comforted, and given hope for eternity via this book. Every Christian should read it, own it, and keep extras on hand to give to others who are wrestling with lifes ultimate fear, and/or grieving the loss of a loved one. Wonderful reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Comforting and Highly Recommended, April 23, 2000

My pastor recommended this book after the death of my son, and it was a tremendous help, giving me a lot of comfort. It was so good, I kept giving them away- so I was on my 7th book before I finally finished it! I could barely put it down, yet kept giving it away! Finally one Sat. I read the whole book. (I just ordered 3 more) This is a book I will read over and over, although I'm not one to read books more than once. It lines up with the Bible, and so easy to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Beautiful Look at the Afterlife, June 4, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Within Heaven's Gates (Originally Entitled Intra Muros) (Paperback)
I have been reading books on the afterlife for several years now, and never seem to tire of the beautiful accounts of what awaits us and our loved ones upon "death".

This book gives yet another beautiful account of the Other Side. Many similarities can be seen between this account, and the accounts of those who've had near-death-experiences. There is 1 major difference though between this and the other books I've read - and that is that this book is of a decidly christian flare. Because of this, many of the things stated at the end do not resemble what others have found on their glorious "trip" to Heaven.

It's my firm belief that each of these books has something to offer, as they each describe one "mansion" of the many that are available to us when we continue with our life after we leave this earth. It's like the blind describing an elephant - one will describe the trunk and think that's all there is, one the ear, one the body and one the legs - each thinking that what they are feeling is the whole of the elephant. I feel that way about descriptions of the Afterlife - no one account is complete in its description.

Although this book may offend people who are not of the christian faith, I do believe it has a lot to offer to everyone. I found myself smiling while reading about the beautiful river, sea and temple - and I believe that the descriptions of these in and of themselves make this book a wonderful read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 'must read' after the loss of a loved one!, December 3, 2003
By

This review is from: Within Heaven's Gates (Originally Entitled Intra Muros) (Paperback)
After the sudden death of my son this was the only book I could concentrate on and read. I could picture my son in Heaven as I read it, and it was so conforting.

I had trouble "getting into it" in the first chapter, but once I got past that, I could not lay it down! I gave away 11 copies within a few months of reading it. When someone I know loses a loved one, I always show up with a copy of this book, and they always call and thank me for it. I highly recommend it! This is the only book I keep to read over and over besides my Bible.

If you know of someone that has lost a loved one and they seem "stuck in their grief", give them this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Grief Reliever, August 19, 2000
This review is from: Within Heaven's Gates (Originally Entitled Intra Muros) (Paperback)
I was the caregiver for my mother who died from cancer. After many months of heavy grief a close friend gave me this book. Reading about the very desciptive place called Heaven I started on the road to recovery from a nightmare. The vivid pictures that are painted in your minds eye are unforgettable! When I take food to a grieving family I also try to take them a copy of this book. To anyone that doubts life after death I would recommend this book to you also.

If you're like me and enjoy reading accounts of visits to heaven but are not terribly fond of corney made-for-profit hyper-spiritual books, you'll definately want to get this book. It's short and sweet and matter-of-fact. And at it's price...a bargain.

I have just finished this book and I read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. I have been diagnosed with cancer and things are not going well, I am looking death in the face. This book has been such a source of comfort for me, I know I can face whatever God has in store for me. I have already ordered a copy for my niece who is grieving the loss of her baby boy. Please share this beautiful book.
