Knowing how much of an impact Billy Barty had on my life, it was amazing to see how many other peoples lives had experienced the same thing. Billy Barty touched the world in a way that not many are able to. I don't see how anyone could read this book and not find themselves walking away with more than they came with!

In this book you will find many heartwarming stories, sentiments and recollections from people who were touched by Billy Barty. Billy Barty was considered to be the most recognized little person of his time at 3'9" tall and worked with many well known celebrites including Elvis. He was the Founder of the organization the Little People of America, and his entertainment career spanned over seventy years. December 12, 2002 Billy's Biography was featured on A/E and he is also highlighted in the documentary "Dwarf Standing Tall" produced by the Discovery Channel which airs frequently. Not only does this book include excerpts from George Lucas, Tom Cruise, Dick Clark, Peter Marshall, Ed Asner, Florence Henderson, Betty White, Peter Falk and many others from the entertainment business, it also has over 100 photo's. You will reminisce with some of the cast from the series Little House on the Prairie and the Waltons and will laugh at memories from comedians and impressionists John Byner, Bob Einstein, Fred Travalena, Ruth Buzzi, Marty Ingles and Norm Crosby. You will have compassion as you read a touching sentimental account of a young cancer victim Erik Parkins who was sparked by Billy's unique voice as the original Figment in Journey to the Imagination at Disney World, and you will get insight from members from the organization the Little People of America. When we got this book, we thought it was a biography, and since we are related to him, we wanted to hear more about his family. It was a collection of remembrances of Billy Barty by famous people who knew him. It was different than we expected, but still interesting.

A friend of mine recommended this book because I enjoy reading biographies. I was familiar with some of the roles Billy Barty portrayed over his career, but was amazed to learn the full extent of his professional achievements. To achieve so much, and give so much, with all of the challenges he personally faced. Amazing. I loved reading the stories written by all of the famous people he worked with. "Within Reach" was a most enjoyable and inspirational read. A true gem.

When I first received the book "Within Reach" I only knew Billy Barty as an actor, star, entertainer and etc., but after reading "Within Reach" it enlightens you to much more! It's simply amazing all the things that Billy Barty accomplished in his life-nothing held him back-no matter what he reached out for, Billy attained. "Within Reach" shows how it is possible, no matter what handicaps or problems we have in life, that if we have the right attitude nothing can hold us back! Billy Barty certainly had the right attitude and much more! He had a kind heart and a wonderful way with people. "Within Reach" shows how a man with a big heart, compassion for people and goodness in life is really what makes a man big! Billy Barty was the biggest of all men because not only was he a great star, great friend, great husband and father but he leaves a legacy behind to all of us that says "Go ahead if you want something in your life you can achieve it-there's no obstacle that you can't overcome-Well, it's "Within Reach"!

Being so fortunate to have been touched by Billy Barty's legacy through my brother Erik's life, reading "Within Reach" helped me see just how many other lives one man was able to touch. "Within Reach" presents a positive theme through its contributions and examples of how Billy Barty impacted his colleagues, friends, family and fans.
