What happens when an innocent man gets framed for the perfect crime? What if he’s not that innocent?

5.0 out of 5 stars Two thrillers in one June 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Have you ever read a book and thought to yourself, "This should be a movie"? Well, this is one of those books. I don't read a lot of crime fiction, but this one grabbed my interest right away because of it's unique storyline. It starts out with a couple of lawyers who plan a heist together. That's part one of the book, and by the end of it, I could hardly turn the pages fast enough to see if they pull it off. I don't remember the last time I got tense reading a book before this one! Part two slows down a bit, probably to get your nerves together for part three, where the same lawyers are defending a man accused of their crime. But the real sticker is that the two don't get along anymore, and it starts to affect their case.

Not only does this book have a completely fresh and compelling storyline, it is driven by equal parts fast action, smart dialogue, and believable characters. I can't emphasize enough how the characters really deliver this story. Everybody has aspects of their personality that are predictable, and other aspects that are not. This author clearly has a grasp of how normal people can behave in confusing ways and uses that to great effect in this story.

One other thing the author does exceptionally well is take subjects that might not seem all that interesting--like a credit card fraud scheme--and he makes them not only interesting, but understandable. Same goes for the legal aspects of the novel, as well. Even though this story deals primarily with legal matters, for that it deserves the description "techno-thriller" as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a first novel! June 8, 2012
By Scott
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm not a big legal thriller guy, however as I read this book, I found myself fascinated by the inner workings of it all. Not only that but there are a couple of unexpected developments that I never saw coming, not to mention what I call the "When the other shoe drops..." aspect of the story, that sinking feeling that makes you want to keep reading in case everything turns out okay. Some of the humor is a little too "cute" but I realize that's entirely subjective and it gets the job done. All in all, it's quite impressive for a first novel.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book was good but not fantastic
The plot was weak. The foul language was not necessary and added nothing to the storyline. I almost stopped reading several times.

Unbelievable characters. Horrible ending. I read a lot of mysteries and thrillers. A lot! I would put this book in the bottom 5. I kept thinking it would get better. It never did. Read more

One of the first (free) books I read on my Kindle. It took me a while because I was not that interested in what was going on, but I always try to finish a book.
