Definitely worth a listen...,

I am going to go against the grain and say that in my opinion, this CD is not quite as good as Mitch's self-titled debut. The sweeping production that made the debut album an incredible listening experience from start to finish has been somewhat lacking in Mitch's subsequent projects. (Maybe due to the absence of Rich Mullins?) In some places, the music here sounds overproduced, considering that Mitch's voice lends itself to a simple accompaniment. If you're only looking for one of Mitch's CD's, I recommend his first one; but if you buy this one, it should still be worth it, because there are some gems to be found here. The musical style (with a couple exceptions)is mostly in the realm of straight pop, partly acoustic, partly electric. There is enough variety to keep it interesting, but if Mitch wants to keep growing as a musician, he needs to diversify in the future. With each CD, Mitch McVicker resembles Rich Mullins less and less, but some common traits are still there. Mitch's songwriting approaches Rich's creativity, but there will never be another Rich Mullins. Still, McVicker does as well as anyone at carrying on Rich's legacy, while continuing to step out as an artist in his own right. Here's hoping Mitch's visibility increases with future releases.

Well done Mitch,

Mitch has developed into a great songwriter out of the shadow of Rich Mullins. His concerts are personal, a lot of fun, and sometimes even profound. This album captures some great songs with great arrangements. The background banjo provides a subtle but very nice touch to Take the Wheel and Stargazer. The strings enhance everything and send the music to a new level. The "Squeaky Cheese Curds from Wisconsin" line tells of how personally Mitch gets to know his fans and reveals the depths of his travels. The first seven songs run together very well. The whole album is definitely worth getting.

The project, very much anticipated, very much desired. How do you wait for something that you know will come eventually, but you wanted yesterday? Anxious, nervous, excited. That describes how I felt about getting my soul on this compilation of new songs. Mitch has a talent for navigating us through a wide valley of emotions as he blends twelve songs into a collection. This collection Without Looking Down has lyrics that are masterful, and beautifully textured with the Gospel and words from and to our Lord. Those prolific lyrics are skillfully blended with superb melodies. Strikingly different then the first two solo Not holy Just Yet, and I need you Jesus were the only two songs I heard a first cut on. These two songs for Mitch's collection of songs recorded has grown to 39; too many to share at concerts. Picking the twelve
