What A Great Suspense!,
By
This review is from: Without a Trace (Rock Harbor Series #1) (Paperback)
This first book in a series blew me away! The characters are so REAL and the plot of this book was a roller-coaster ride that I never wanted to end! I'm so glad Ms. Coble has made these characters and this location a series. The twists and turns are unexpected, and Bree Nichols is a fabulous character! Keep up the wonderful writing, Ms. Coble....reading the follow-ups in this series will be a delight! For more of my reviews, visit my website at www.robinmillerbooks.com

This book has everything!,

This review is from: Without a Trace (Rock Harbor Series #1) (Paperback)
This awesome book, a romantic suspense that features a search and rescue team, has all the ingredients for a book that'll keep you up late reading! The characters were so real I felt like they were my friends. Coble somehow manages to bring Michigan's Upper Penninsula alive without boring the reader with descriptive details. The book kept me guessing until the end where everything comes together like a perfectly fit jigsaw puzzle. Add this one to your list of MUST READS!

This really needs to be in a religious/inspiration section,

When I bought this book, the reviews were few. Now people are writing about the christian aspect of this book. It was too religious for me and reading about people finding G-d, Jesus and praying. My point in writing this review is to only give a heads up to those folks that are expecting a mystery but find a lot of writing about being a christian.

A Can't Put It Down Read,

This book captured my interest and held my attention to the end. I appreciated the strength yet vulnerability of the heroine--and her relentless search. Tightly woven plot threads and a satisfying end! Get this book, and you'll be cheering her on and looking for the second one to come out!!

Terrific start to a new series,

I thoroughly enjoyed Without a Trace. This was a page-turner with suspense building all the way through. I'm not a romantic suspense fan (don't dislike it; just usually reach for something else), but Ms. Coble delivered a great read. I will definitely be looking for the next book in the series.

Rock Harbor Series Book One,
This review is from: Without a Trace (Rock Harbor Series #1) (Paperback)
Bree Nichols, who lives in a lighthouse in Upper Michigan, lost her husband and son in an airplane crash one year ago. Since no one had found the crash site, Bree and her rescue trained dog, Samson, are determined to find it and learn the truth about the crash. While on her searches, she meets Ranger Kade Matthews who is not very fond of rescue dogs invading his territory. The more she searches the more convinced there is more to the situation than just a missing plane with her husband and son.
This has been an intriguing easy to read murder mystery involving every day life characters in a small community with enough suspense to keep the pages turning. The "witch in the woods" Rachel March finally must give up her secrets. While the mystery surrounding the plane are solved, there are enough loose ends in the character development to this novel to go get the second book in the series and read about the next saga in Rock Harbor.

I totally recommend this book to anyone who loves a good suspense/mystery with a little hint of romance in it book. I couldn't put it down for a long time! It was so good! I actually cried when I got towards the end. I felt like I actually knew Bree. I felt her troubles! As the back of the book jacket says from one reviewer, you have to actually stop and remember that they are just characters in the book, and you don't have to pray for them!

Though I am a believer, I shy away from fiction works written by Christians because they tend to be preachy, overly religious, corny, or showy, (like the football players who point to the sky when they make a touchdown). This book had none of that, and though God was mentioned, it was done in a non-denominational way, and wasn't the main drive of the plot. The story itself was absolutely riveting, and although I had my doubts about Bree's list of suspects, the true killer's identity was a complete surprise. The near-misses with the search for her family kept me on the edge of my seat. There were a lot of twists and turns, and many times I uttered an 'Oh no!' or an 'Oh my goodness!' I actually cried at the end of the book - a good cry. I can't even remember the last time I did that. It just goes to prove that sex, language, and gore are NOT prerequisites for a fabulous book. I can't wait to pick up the next one.
