3.0 out of 5 stars encouraging for the co-religionist, useful for the scholarly minded., May 29, 2011
This review is from: Witnesses to Power: Stories of God's Quiet Work in a Changing China (Missionary Life Stories) (Paperback)
Witnesses to Power puts together a number of stories and vicarious testimonies from a number of Chinese Christians and Christian communities. One of the few English language resources of its kind, these stories detail the kind of religious experience so often attested to in China: that of miraculous spiritual power and supernatural works.

For the more academically minded (or for these interested in China more generally) this short volume also offers a helpful resource. Additionally, this collection of stories and testimonies has rather obvious appeal for Christian readers looking for accounts of God's work and the growth of the church in China. There are few other places to get such an accessible (narrative as opposed to scholarly) and readable (the volume is very short) grassroots look at the Chinese church.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Storeis, February 11, 2007
This review is from: Witnesses to Power: Stories of God's Quiet Work in a Changing China (Missionary Life Stories) (Paperback)
Who would have thought Christianity existed in China in these days after all the stories we've heard about persecution. The stories tell us that God is still on the Throne.
