5.0 out of 5 stars Great unit March 30, 2007
I'm very pleased with this metronome. I bought this to help me during my piano practice. It is loud enough to hear over the sound of the piano, but it isn't obnoxiously loud. I didn't really need a compact model, but I choose this one anyway because it had good reviews on other sites and it was less expensive that the larger models.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Keeps Time - It Works - Almost 25 Years April 4, 2010
I purchased mine in 1986 when I began studying Classical Guitar seriously...

...years later (it's now 2010) I just wind it up and it keeps my tempo just as well as it did 24 years ago.

One thing, special, that I always appreciated is that it lists the bpm (beats per minute) for all the classic Italian tempo terms: Largo...Adagio...Allegro...etc., and gives you the range. Printed handy, right there on the face. Did you know that when I'm healthy, my heart beats at a steady Largo: 40-60bpm

Thanks Wittner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this unit August 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
After reading some feedback about mechanical metronomes, I was curious to see how they would perform compared to digital ones.

I read good reviews about this Taktell and I am very impressed. I tried a variety of tempi and compared with the metronome on my digital piano; I was amazed how well it kept time. I gave up listening for any divergence between the ticks after 30 seconds or so. It's got a nice sound (very audible but not too loud), and it's very easy to set when the pendulum is hooked vertically in place because the notches corresponding to the various beats per minute line up exactly with the clicking slider weight.

I can definitely say that this unit keeps great time, and I look forward to practicing more with it. It's really handy to be able to visually (as well as audibly) break up the meter. Great for those who are new to keeping time.

I was hesitant about buying a mechanical given the higher cost, but I'm very glad I did... well worth it.
