Other than the stand, the metronome has excellent features, thus the four stars. It is almost as loud as my wooden Wittner (really loud); plus it has a good volume control. The clave (wood block) sound is a very good imitation of a wooden mechanical metronome--very pleasing to my ear. It has an alternate tone if you prefer something more electronic sounding.
I recommend this metronome if you don't mind providing some additional support for the stand. I hope Wittner corrects this problem in future models of this metronome.
I was initially reluctant to purchase this metronome after reading a review of it from 2008. The reviewer gave the unit high marks for its technical features, but complained of a poor design of the stand, which resulted in the metronome falling over. Perhaps the stand was redesigned since that time, or the instructions for using it were clarified, as the stand is very sturdy and the unit will not fall over. The stand folds down from the back of the unit with an arrow and instructions telling you to push the stand into the body where it is securely anchored.
I recommend this metronome, as it is a real jewel.
As far as functionality and durability, perfect combination. I also find the click sound to be better than the beeps of other electronic metronomes. The students respond better and it's not as annoying. The volume control is wonderful, gets very loud - a plus when working with young kids, since they usually play loud naturally. The beat subdivision is also hard to come by but a great addition to this met. Some students struggle with eighth notes and the beat subdivision works like a charm. Among other benefits for the other beat subdivisions included.

It's a metronome. It works as advertised. I play banjo and the volume us adjustable loud enough to be heard over the banjo. It is also quiet enough to use with my mute installed.Published 1 month ago by KirkMoto

The metronome worked very well for about a year. Then it periodically began to tic the wrong beat, especially if I used it for longer than 5 minutes. Read morePublished 8 months ago by katrine miner

It ticks and tocks. It can be loud if you need that, and there's and LED to follow. Those are the only features I use, but it is very good at doing just that. Read morePublished 10 months ago by Endocrantz
