This metronome has about everything you could want in a digital metronome--except an adequate built-in stand. The designers were asleep on this portion of the MT-70. It does not provide adequate support. Also, there were no instructions on putting the stand in lock position, which is really not a lock position in my mind. If you depend solely on the built-in stand, the metronome will fall frequently. I had to provide a makeshift addition to the stand using a tongue depressor to keep the stand open.

Other than the stand, the metronome has excellent features, thus the four stars. It is almost as loud as my wooden Wittner (really loud); plus it has a good volume control. The clave (wood block) sound is a very good imitation of a wooden mechanical metronome--very pleasing to my ear. It has an alternate tone if you prefer something more electronic sounding.

I recommend this metronome if you don't mind providing some additional support for the stand. I hope Wittner corrects this problem in future models of this metronome.

The compact Wittner MT70 digital metronome has it all. It features 6 beat and 6 rhythm settings, 8 LEDs which simulate the motion of a pendulum's swing, a 40 note tone generator for tuning, tempo settings from 40 to 216 beats per minute, a wide-range volume control and includes an earphone jack. The beat tone is a very realistic clave sound. When using the beat settings, a chime and a green light accent the first beat of the selected time signature.

I was initially reluctant to purchase this metronome after reading a review of it from 2008. The reviewer gave the unit high marks for its technical features, but complained of a poor design of the stand, which resulted in the metronome falling over. Perhaps the stand was redesigned since that time, or the instructions for using it were clarified, as the stand is very sturdy and the unit will not fall over. The stand folds down from the back of the unit with an arrow and instructions telling you to push the stand into the body where it is securely anchored.

I recommend this metronome, as it is a real jewel.

This is the best metronome hands down, I have been using it with my students for over 5 years. However, i refuse to pay more than $40 for it as it has been offered previously for $38. The company(ies) selling it for $50+ are price gouging because this met. has become hard to find for its popularity. When the price comes back down, I'll begin buying it again.

As far as functionality and durability, perfect combination. I also find the click sound to be better than the beeps of other electronic metronomes. The students respond better and it's not as annoying. The volume control is wonderful, gets very loud - a plus when working with young kids, since they usually play loud naturally. The beat subdivision is also hard to come by but a great addition to this met. Some students struggle with eighth notes and the beat subdivision works like a charm. Among other benefits for the other beat subdivisions included.

The visual arc emulating the the pendulum on a wooden metronome is very helpful. The ability to pre-set the timing before you turn the metronome on is a great feature. Most of the other digital metronomes lose their count once they've been turned off, so you have to re-set the timing by tediously pressing and holding a button until the correct count reaches the count your want. Another great feature is that it has settings for counting out different timings like triplets and swing 1/8 notes. There are more features, but I'm not going over all of them. Obviously, I think this metronome is great. Very highly recommended!!!!!!

I just received this metronome and I've already fallen in love with it. Now that I have a volume control, I wonder why any metronomes are made without this simple feature. It is so nice to have the volume low while practicing soft passages, or even while playing scales and arpeggios as some metronomes are much louder than needed. Its top volume is louder than any metronome I've ever heard. I also like the pendulum feature, it's more dynamic than other metronomes and allows me to feel the pulse all the way through the beats, if that makes any sense. The main reason I purchased this was the 40 note tone generator, which the volume dial also controls. I've been wanting a drone sound to play as I work on difficult passages as a reference point to hear if all notes are in tune. This does that job very well, especially since I can turn the tone volume way down. Excellent item, I think I'll buy another...

Works great. Battery not included, FYI. Great features for a good price. Tuning, volume control, multiple settings for triplets, etc., red/green light to emphasize start of new set of rhythmic pattern.

I don't know if we got a returned item but sometimes it doesn't work. I sent a message to the seller with pictures and there was no response. The original package it came in was all cut up and disassembled when I received my package. My son's teacher has one and her's works perfectly ever time. So when you get it from a good dealer it's a great item. I'm just not sure I got a deal with this seller since ours doesn't work all the time. Be wary and if you're at all unsure send it back and get a refund. I should've.
