I'm going to Cancun this month and I wanted to carry cash for tipping while on the beach or by the pool. I didn't want to leave my cash back at the chair while swimming but I didn't want to keep it in my swimsuit and get all wet. And forget about hiding it in your shoe. That's the first place thieves look. So I ordered the Surfsafe Dry Case based on these reviews and also suggestions from posters on TripAdvisor.com. It's inexpensive, with free shipping, and I got it really quick too. Ordered Friday 6/10, delivered Monday 6/13. So to test it I put a piece of paper towel inside and dunked it in my swimming pool about a foot deep for about a minute. The paper towel came out dry as a bone. Just for fun I did the same with one of those plastic Zip-Loc bags, the ones with the little blue zip tab. I saw bubbles rising right away and yep the paper was wet. So don't use those if you're going under water. Now, the real test will be when I hit the resort pool and beach for real world testing. I will update when I return.

UPDATE: I took this in the resort pool so I could have cash for tips at the pool bar. My cash never got wet. I also took it into the surf and had the same result. I don't know if it works in deep water but for what I needed, it worked great!

This case was great, did not leak, opened and closed easily and worked so much better than others that I have had in the past, though they all look similar. The snap on the neckstrap seemed to come apart more easily than I hoped, so I just tied a knot. That worked out fine and I didn't have to worry about losing it in the surf. Airtight!!

I thought this would be the perfect solution to take my electronic car key with me when I go diving. It says it is safe to 100ft but water leaked in already in at 15ft! This may work for swimming but CERTAINLY not for diving!

I had a surf safe for years and only misplaced it this year. When I found them on Amazon I was thrilled and bought 3 more for my daughters. It's a safe way to carry ID, money, etc. into stores without a cumbersome purse. Thanks!! Great service and great product.
