5.0 out of 5 stars A whole new perspective on the revolution!
This is a collection of letters & reports on the women behind the founding fathers. It gives a unique & tender perspective on what was going on "at home" while the Declaration of Independence was being written. I get a better understanding of what life was like in that time period, of the sacrifices these families made, of the fortitude it took to grow a nation...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sorta Disappointed
I am a descendant of one of the Signers, and over the years have become familiar with the lives of many of the 56 Signers, but not so much the wives, other than some genealogy. This book does not give me much real information or insight as to any of them, other than Jane Adams and a few others where their lives have already been in the public eye through their husbands'...

This review is from: Wives of the Signers: The Women Behind the Declaration of Independence (Paperback)
Describes the hardships and struggles experienced by the wives of those who signed the Declaration of Independence. A very enlightening read; something that should be a part of every high school American history class!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful information on the women behind the men who were our Founding Fathers, May 14, 2010
This review is from: Wives of the Signers: The Women Behind the Declaration of Independence (Paperback)
Just because their names were not on the official documents that organized our country doesn't mean that women did not take a part. I think they have often been overlooked by history, but this book brings to light their sacrifices and challenges in support of our great nation. It is a good example for todays women, that there is honor in standing for what is right and raising strong successful families. Too often todays women need their name displayed in shining lights to prove to themselves that they've done something great. The women behind our Founding Fathers took pride and pleasure in the success of their families and the changes taking place in America because of their silent but profound sacrifices on our behalf. Inspiring!

5.0 out of 5 stars wives of the signers, June 2, 2010
This review is from: Wives of the Signers: The Women Behind the Declaration of Independence (Paperback)
I loved the book. I didn't know much about the signers or their wives, so this book was very enlightening. It brings to mind and heart why we are a great nation. I do believe these men and women are the true patriots of our land. May we never forget what they did for our freedoms. I couldn't put the book down and will have to read it again. I recommend it highly.

Excellent history book about a little-discussed topic. There is usually a great woman behind a great man. I love David Barton's interviews on Fox (Glenn Beck's Show) and I purchase all of his wonderful books.

While I enjoyed this book, I would not recommend it to just anyone. It is a book of assumptions based mostly upon the lives of these ladies husbands.

This book is fantastic, and I have really enjoyed getting to know these amazing women; I especially loved the section on Abigail Adams. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a new perspective on what the signers went through, and how important freedom was to them- and to their families.
