5.0 out of 5 stars a better stud finder.
Nice little device. I got this to find floor joists, and it works well even through carpet. The "tuning" is a little sensitive, if you don't find any nails/screws the first time you might have to re-adjust the sensitivity and try again. This worked well for my application, and is certainly better than using one of the other stud finders.

2.0 out of 5 stars No, not at all better
I decided to try this product because of its single positive review and low price. I soon learned it was a mistake. The unit requires a 9V battery, which is not included or listed on the packaging (as I recall). Anyway, you're supposed to turn it on, hold the long, flat side against the wall, and move it around to listen for beeps. However, right from the outset it just...

However, right from the outset it just emits a loud, unending beep, so you have to adjust the sensitivity.... With a small flathead screwdriver. Why they did not just go with a proper dial is beyond me. Even then, my unit would detect a stud and then just go into the unending tone until I adjusted the sensitivity again. Turning it on and off did not help. Manually adjusting the sensitivity with a screwdriver each time you find a stud is not much fun, I can tell you.

After a while I got tired of this and just borrowed a regular stud finder from a friend. What do you know, the borrowed unit worked fine immediately, required no manual calibration, and made no unpleasant sounds. So yeah, spend a few dollars more and get a decent stud finder instead of this unit.
