I bought this for classroom use, so would prefer it not have any use other than for playing "Authors." Also, the original card game had larger type and pictures of the authors, because it did not have the numeric and card suits also printed on the cards. Larger text and pictures was more educational. With these cards, I must watch that the cards are being used for the purpose for which I purchased them--to learn the names of key authors and their major works.

We played this a lot growing up and it really helped us in getting to know the great book and authors. Lots of fun.

As a child, I played this game with my sister, and we knew who wrote what later when we were in school! I use the card game with my high schoolers, and they have a fun day when we play.

I was recently reading Little Women when I came across a passage where the characters go on a picnic and Jo takes the "Authors" game along. It made me curious as to what authors might have been on their cards, as she is one of the authors on the card game I grew up on.

I learned the names of the authors and their works by playing the game with my sister when I was a kid. Now my girls are interested in reading all of the books in the authors game. They've read quite a few, and are collecting the other "Authors" books to read in the future. I believe children today would benefit from reading these books instead of some of the "dribble" they read today. (if they read at all) At least they would benefit from learning the names and works of these great authors--maybe for future reading and book collecting.

I remember playing this Authors game 40 years ago. I was so glad to see I could get one for our kids!!

My kids loved this card game and their kids now do too. They feel quite adult knowing the "fancy" authors and the game builds familiarity for later reading.
There are also American and Children's Authors games. I highly recommend this card game.

I remembered playing this with family growing up. I thought something like it would be unavailable, but I was very pleased they carry products like these still. Now I can play this game with my children.

Our 7-12 year old grandkids love this memory and educational game. I played it when I was a kid many years ago and was disappointed that Parker Brothers had stopped making the game. I still remember the authors and their classics books from this game and our grandkids have learned the classics by playing Authors. I was able to find the original parker Brothers game on e-Bay but this new version is every bit as good as the original and the new cards are coated for better durability. It's a great family game.

I love this cardgame. It is a great hit with my whole family. It is fun and wholesome,It is a great way to spend quality time with your family. I have played this game since I was a child with my Grandma.Now I am playing it with my family. Thankyou Amazon!

As a kid many years ago, we played "Authors" which was "The" most popular indoor kids game of all. I learned early on many of the classic authors and their works. We, and our friends, used to pull out the cards everytime we had the chance, and when I grew up, went away to college and eventually married and started my own family, I searched for Authors to enjoy with my kids, but couldn't find it anyplace. Now that I have grandchildren, I've been delighted to find it once again. It turned up first on eBay when someone spotted it & gifted me with a gently used set. Now I see Amazon is carrying this same fun card game, now newly produced with exact replicas of the original set. This is a delightful family game and our whole family is enjoying playing together (which is something many families are seeking). It's simple & easy to play which is great so young readers can be included (about 10 & up) but not boring for youth or adults. I am SO glad it's once again available!
