Commemorate this favorite tale with a Barbie doll fashioned after Dorothy. She comes dressed in an adorable blue and white gingham dress, and even wears the classic red shoes from the movie. Doll cannot stand alone. Measures 12" tall.

super-cute "Wizard of Oz" Dorothy doll,

First of all, the 2007 'Pink Label' "Wizard of Oz" collector dolls are starting to become quite scarce in certain areas; the Dorothy model is one of the nicest "Oz" themed dolls I've seen in a long time.
Using the regular 'open-mouth' Barbie head mold, Dorothy wears her long curly brunette hair in two braids secured by blue ribbons. Her blue gingham frock has a shimmery effect which evokes the bold Technicolor look from the movie. She wears blue socks with shiny red "Ruby Slipper" pumps. On her left arm, Dorothy carries a basket containing canine sidekick Toto. The doll is nicely presented in it's windowbox, but if you prefer to have her displayed "de-boxed", the package also includes a dollstand. Truly a lovely piece for the OZ fan in your family.

Disappointed a bit...,

This review is from: Wizard of Oz: Dorothy Barbie Doll (Toy)
Yes, the Dorothy is perfectly detailed, she is almost as great as the original Mego version... but, THE SHOES! YIKES! They are not detailed as the other reviewer stated, I'm wondering if this lucky person got another doll that Mattel is selling. The shoes that came with my doll are cheap plastic ones... no sparkles whatsoever. Would it have killed Mattel to add glitter to the shoes? Worst part to come... the shoes will not stay on the doll. If we put them on with or without the socks, they will not stay on. So basically, the best part of the Dorothy doll doesn't work. We were so disappointed, that we complained to Mattel. They couldn't help us with this particular problem, but offered us a generous gift certificate to buy something else. Of course, my daughter wants the Glenda doll.... wish us luck with her shoes!

This doll is a gift for a Wizard of Oz obsessed toddler :). The shoes (much complained about here?) are your typical Barbie shoe (and how well do those stay on?). The ones included were a red metallic finish (no, no glitter). She comes with Toto and basket. She has translucent silver glittery socks. Her dress is a shiney satiny material.
The box is nice for a collector because there are no seams or tape to disrupt if you want to remove her from box or save the box, there will be nothing to compromise the shoebox style packaging. I like that her whole body isn't hinged like other special movie Barbies (like Mary Poppins or Disney's Prince Eric). Dorothy has the joints of your typical Barbie. Quite disappointed we cannot buy the Wizard of Oz DVD currently but we were able to TiVo it :) Happy with the doll and the discounted sale price on Amazon---I would not have paid the retail price on this as it is just a Barbie after all.
